Gambhir was given a chance to play against Bangladesh/South Africa in 2003. In 5 matches he scored 113 runs avg of 22.6, hit only a half century against Bangladesh. And our team in 2003 was going good, so why would Ganguly.Sachin retire because Vaidya wanted them to :) When Gambhir returned in 2005, he smashed a century against Sri Lanka, and was retained in the team thereafter. When Sachin knew he had an injury, he stepped down even before the match had started. According to people like u, when he plays well, it is because it is an easy batting track. when he does not play well, he is old and should retire. when he plays and all others fail, he plays for records. when he fails and others win the matches, he is a spent force.....
