How can Varun Aaron retain his pace?
by Nikhil Shah on Nov 01, 2011 06:18 AM

After the conclusion of the recent T20 match against England the Indian bowling attack looked like in complete shambles where Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar were not able to make any dent on the bowling attack when we had a low scoring 120 to defend.

Both Vinay and Praveen bowled at 124kph and wickets are hard to get at that pace. Typically
bowling strikes are poor for slower bowlers.

One point that improved Ishant in the recent series was he has been rested for several ODI matches. With lesser injuries, and playing lesser cricket overall the body can retains its energy required to bowl quick for longer periods as Sehwag points out.

I think proper warmups and going thru strength conditioning in Gyms during free time can be a plus along with a good diet and fitness regimen.

PLaying too much domestic cricket and fielding can also put extra strain in the throwing aram which can breakdown if used too much and rested.

It would be advisable for Yadav and Varun to stay away from playing too much FC cricket and rest the throwing arm in the process.

ODI cricket in India for fast bowlers is also a death-knell for mental reasons when they get hit around the Park and lose confidence.

Overall the lesser the cricket the better and one can also concentrate on working in the GYM rather than bowling in the nets.

The selection of Varun at 21 and Yadav at 24 is also an advantage where they get a change to physically mature. There could be some some wear and tear at a tender age of 18

When will India produce bowling unit like Pak
by cc man on Oct 31, 2011 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

Look at the class of Pakistan bowlers. They always produce world class match winning wicket taking fast and spin bowlers. You can check the stats over the years. They dont rely on acadamies. They just idolize Imran,Wasim,Waqar,Qadir,Saqlain and become natural world class wicket taking bowlers. They have such a pool of bowlers. They did not miss Asif,Aamir. Ajmal spinning the ball with lot of variations is treat to watch especially for aspiring spin bowlers

Aaron, Yadav does not have line and length even though they have pace. Whats the use of having pace when there is no line, length, seam, swing, bounce.

Good observation CC. Pakistan are a class apart when it comes to bowling not like our wounded bunch who shine for a couple of matches & then head off to the operation theater. If it wasn't for their inept administration & self destructing ways they would have thrashed all teams to pulp. They need a towering figure like Imran to resuscitate them & then they will be world beaters in tests, one days or T20's. Compared to them ours are a bunch of namby pamby juveniles.

In the initial years, even Imran Khan was wayward. But their board continued with him and gradually he developed as a great bowler.

This guy will end up with a 120-135 range bowler in max 6 tests, its not that I say with history of Previous fast bowlers in mind like Munaf, sreesanth, etc who ended up so.

Its because his bowling action doesn't show signs of a genuine fast bowler, its not good.So whats the use if he breaks 153.4 km/hr range if he is wayward all over the pitch.

I say the medium Pacers will be more better than this guy,but still early days for him lets wait and watch whether he will be good or just a media hype.

More BS. On the contrary he has the right mechanics for a fast bowler. The issue is that indian fast bowlers are advised to develop variety at the cost of pace to prolong their career.
