i dont know why indian and english cricketers and fans took it so emotionally as if we are about to go into a nuclear war. india and britian have been most trusted friendsfor decades...tho they both were in diff blocks during cold war ..england sold us INS virat undermining u.s pressure. sport is a sport ..lets take results as they come. rivalry is bull shit created by australian cricket and thier cricketers.

Egos took a beating...
by Junior Shelly on Oct 27, 2011 12:49 AM  | Hide replies

Went to England as the World's No: 1 team, and as ODI World champions. Some of the 'legends' were so egoistic that they declared themselves 'fit' despite carrying serious injuries as if they thought the opposition would be threatened to submission just by their mere presence.
Some other 'legends in the making' couldn't even stand their ground against short-pitched bowling and a couple of them returned home with broken bones.
The most intelligent captain in the world kept on searching for new excuses each time his 'world-beaters' got thrashed and kicked on their back side.
The best spinner in the world had to put an end to his misery by complaining about a mysterious stomach 'injury'. A fast bowler who was hailed as the best in the world, just because he had a good series against the Aussies couldn't even create any doubts in the minds of the opposition batsmen.
At the end of all that....humiliating, disgusting and nauseating defeat..!!!! YUCK.
I just can't understand how some people here can forget all these and 'celebrate' a home series victory on spin friendly pitches against a team well-known for its deficiencies against any spin-leave alone quality spin.

India won a test series in England in 2007, when did England win a test series in India for the last time ?

You say the pitches in India were "dust-bowl", but the stats of English spinners (specially Swann) does not reflect that . I have never seen a team chase 298 on a "dust-bowl" wicket.

well said Chatterji....pls do understand that of the 50 overs games in England, they won almost 3 purely on the basis of the Duckworth/lewis....that's NO win. And about dust bowls in India...what do u think the English gave us when we went there....Obviusly every home team seeks to encash on their advantage .

Junior shelly ur analysis is 100% correct.
india is always tiger at home & lamb outside.
Except sachin, dravid, laxman - rest all are flat track bullies who can score only on indian wickets & against B grade attack

Good reply to the haughty Brits.... But as they say "touch wood"...... We should not be listening to this from the Aussies or anyone overseas. As an Indian, that is all I pray for.

There is nothing wrong with what Mahesh said. Aussies are the superior side, especially at home, even with a side sans McGrath and Warne. How many times has Australia won the WC and how many times has India won the WC? It has nothing to do with color of skin, so grow up!

Lets not forget India Beat England in England in the year 1971 / 1986 / 2007. Team has nothing to prove now. They are world champions, the loss in England was only because of Injuries to key players Sehwag, zaheer and Yuvraj, Gautam. If Sehwag had opened and Zaheer bowled the whole series, my friend, the result would have been different.

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SLK 2009 17.5
In SA 2011, 35.8
In WI 2011- 19.5 (last series)
( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury).
In Eng 2011- 29 (last series)

Also dhoni after playing 27 T-20 intl has not scored a single fifty, no match winning inning, no MOM & pathetic strike rate of 105 (one of the lowest for any batsman in T-20 at his batting position)
In ODI overseas also he is a big failure as batsman who never perform when require due to limited batting ability & has hardly won any important ODI outside india with his batting.
He is a flop wicketkeeper also in last 3 series where dropped many catches.

Dhoni is best
That’s why doing rest.
hehehe

It is obvious from Dhoni's statement how much the inflated egos of the over hyped Indian 'superstars' were hurt by their gross inability to win even a single match in England. This is the same man who could'nt even connect a single shot convincingly a couple of months ago...!!!!

probably you didn't watch the ODi series. He started his not out record in England itself. One he regained his form England couldn't get him out on even a single occasion. Forget Technique and talent. It's his sheer grit that carried India to a 5-0 whitewash without a single senior player except Dhoni

This English team is not strong enough for even a completely new Indian team, given the pitches used for the series. Just have to pick an eleven from the Rest of India squad and the Ranji champion team - Rajasthan, I guess; to give the English team a run for their money at any given day..!!

You guys seem to be satisfied with the 'superb' performance of the Indian team and its 'cool' skipper. I am not foolish like some of you people to fall for the metaphors or clich going around after the 5-0 'victory'. Why don't you guys just accept the fact that the Indian team need slow, low rank turners to win even at home?
Why do you tend to forget the glaring weaknesses of the team, after a series win against a visiting team at home?
And finally...just tell me how many wins would it take to wipe away the scars and bruises of the "azz kicking" which the Indian team got during their visit to England, when they were routed 8-0 in all??

How come England spinners were beaten all around the park on the "slow, low rank turners " you are mentioning ? Worlds number 1 spinner Swann should have single-handedly destroyed India.

Dear Manu,
Why to look only the darker side. English play good cricket in their home condition. So is India.Even Bangladesh is great at their home ground. There are few teams who can beat other on their ground. Earlier, India used to loose the matches in the Home Ground as well. So thats the positive. And Why the team or any individual is not playing in Bouncy pitches, is not the fault of the players. You can understand. What is important is to perform best in those situation for which you have the familiarity...Be matured and think twice before writing senseless.can you peroform brilliant on those things that is not known to you? Can you play guitar if you have the habbit of beating the Drums? Might be yes, then you are above Brilliant. But not everyone is Brilliant like You.All senseless think he is Brilliant...am i wrong Mr Zach..:)
