an analysis
by Varma on Oct 23, 2011 03:35 PM

My own analysis. The weather played a great role in England’s victory in the matches India played in England. There was no night without slight drizzle. Cold water coming from the skies. That made daytime temperatures unusually cold. Especially D/N matches. Friends of me slept under 3 blankets after Cardiff match. Still all the ODI ‘s England won was with little margin.

Check the match between India and England the same thing what england is facing now was the same situation which indians faced in england, everybody wants to be the hero in their own home ground its just we waste our valuable time watching the whole match when everything is fixed who is going to win and how.

And what about the run out miss of Trot who scored 90 odd runs. Kudos for the observation.

Do you feel England would like to lose here. Never. It just goes to show the determination application and outstanding performance of this young Indian side with the skipper leading from the front. We should see what was missing in England. India had gone under prepared with fatigue, injuries, and ofcourse the weather and pitch not helping their cause. The bowlers were a woeful lot and the drubbing they got upfront in the test matches was also a factor. England had made their intentions amply clear that they wanted to win in India at any cost. And they had sledges and tantrum galore in the field. It is commendable that India came back and played like champions with half their strength. Cheers to Dhoni and company.

ODI is most boring format of cricket now days
While test cricket require real skill/technique to face against best bowlers, T-20 require hitting skill from 1st ball & that also under pressure.
ODi doesn't require much skill as you get time to set in & also best bowler can bowl only 10 overs with 1 bouncer per over only. Also most of ODI matches played on flat track to make it batsman friendly.
Thats the reason even medicore like dhoni has good record in ODI (ofcourse no. of not out inning & manipulated batting position is another factor) but he has got pathetic record in Test & T-20 intnl.
His overall overseas record as batsman is even more pathetic with test avg of 27 & T-20 strike rate of 102.
He has never played a match winning inning overseas or scored century overseas in any format of game even after playing 7 years of intnl cricket,

Ban ODI so that medicore like dhoni gets exposed.

Emerging pacers
by D S on Oct 22, 2011 07:24 PM  | Hide replies

angrez developed Broad even after his blunders ...
India needs to have backup plans when we play emerging pacers who dont have all the experience. just in case, the opposition targets them.

Since the series has been won, India should also plan for longer term.

When India allows rabbits because they get more wickets, they cannot expect to produce cheetahs. Wihen Broad was hit all over by Yuvi, angrez put efforts to develop Broad into a better bowler.

What does it mean,
Indian have hardly focussed to develop Yadav or Aaron or Ishant into better bowlers. They are thinking of getting low speed bowlers like Arvind, Mithun, vijay, etc. In short run, these bowlers will be good.
But in foreign pitches, these players will be busted. At-least, one pitch in India should be batting and bowling pitch for fast bowlers like Yadav, Aaron, etc so they can practice on their own and be developed for play videshi teams.

For india -
If you do not know how to develop leopards, you will end up getting rabbits. Not denying that slow bowlers and spinner have role, but desh should have variety ready.

And if india really wanted slower and effective bowler for one more match, then why did they ignore RP Singh.

Also, desi batting needs to face quality fast pace and spin for domestic match and practice so they can face videshi bowling when they play in videsh.

CONTINUED ...

india needs to keep 80% pitches that suit indian bowler, 20% pitches that are like videshi for practice of desi pace bolwers and batting. Also, see how our spinner and slower bowlders do in videshi type pitches in Desh.
I could even go for 70% desi and 30% videshi pitch percentage. Make desis win 70% first, then win 30%.
