Dominance based on Sub-continental conditions
by Nikhil Shah on Oct 18, 2011 04:35 AM

The indian conditions do not address some of the underlying problems with teams selection policies.

We have to consider at this stage that Gambhir, Sehwag, Yuvraj are seniors and thier availability is limited. So is Sachin and Dravid in Test matches.

The replacements in the England series was not addressed properly by the selectors.

Dhawan and Mukund should have been pursued properly. Also Yadav, Varun and Rahul Sharma were bowlers worth the try since the line and length stuff was not effective.

Praveen Kumar, RIP Singh, Munaf and Vinay Kumar are average military medium pace and the lack of strike bowling was absent in England.

With no openers and poor bowling strikes the sub-continental conditions are ideal for Indian cricket as we see here in Hyderabad.

We need to rest Parthiv and Praveen and give Tiwari a chance in the middle order by moving up Gambhir. Also We need to check out the real pace of Aaron. Yadav's range is about 85-90 mph
and we expect Aaron to be around 88-93 mph.

It would be worth losing an ODI just to experiment with Aaron. In a 5 bowler scenario
eco rate of 5.5 is OK since SR should be pretty good for Aaron just like U Yadav.

I would like to see these two in last 3 ODI's. Both did so well in challenger trophy.

The problem with Pankaj is his List-A ECO rate is close to 5.0 and is a bit slower.

What we are looking for is someone who is basically a superman when it comes to becoming a front-line bowler.

Team India has proved a point to critics!
by nisha thoas on Oct 17, 2011 01:31 PM  | Hide replies

Its great to see team India take revenge on what happened in England 2 months back. That tour was illfated from the start, with injuries, lack of practise matches, fatigue etc, and ENgland were in familiar conditions. Now a young Indian team(with 6-7 first teamers out) has trashed the same team thanks to having 11 fit players and appopriate rest. Shows the bench strength that we have in India and why we were worthy world champs. The England tour was an aberration, and anyone can have 1 bad series. Team India should aim for a 5-0 clean sweep, and get back their hold on the world no1 ranking.

nisha, even if india winning 5-0, india can not be the no.1 ranking. Because we lost the no. 1 ranking in test.

Save Swamy, the lone Crusader Against Corruption, whose perseverance has landed the likes of Raja and company behind bars and is continuing his efforts to take more corrupt heads. It is not the joint opposition which did it. It is the One Man Army called Swamy who did it. Show him your support by signing the online Petition.
