Wisden declared Sachin as the 2 nd best batsman all time after Don bradman & 2 nd best batsman of all time in one days after Viv Richards.by implication he is far above any of the players playing now. Regarding winning MOM etc a player is only as good as his team , why Richards team could not do much after 1983 world cup. they even failed to qualify for Semi finals. I remember in 1984-85 series played in India in 5 test matches sunny gavaskar totally failed that does not mean he is a inferior player. Sachin should be viewed in totality & not selectively.

Just a quick question to Anand He was not Choosen as the Indian Cricketer of the Century instead Kapil dev was Chosen although Kapil was never regarded as God.Secondly if he was so great why Wisden didnot choose him in the Top 5 Players of the Century Sachin has scored much more runs than Viv Richards and Averagewise he is better too!

Dude Anand Gavaskar failed in 1984-85 but he scored his most runs against WIndies Deadly fast bowlers in West Indies.But the stats I provided clearly shows Sachin always struggle in front of Akram Donald Mcgrath and most recently against Anderson and Broad and Tremlett.

Dont know why my messages are getting deleted. Silver Mani, matches are not won by 1 person. Sachin is more consistency than Lara. Kallis getting MOMs, it is no surprise that he is an all rounder. Also, not snatching any credit away from Kallis, he has scored 4937 runs in tests against the worst bowling attacks (Bangla, India, WI & Zimb). We Indians (assuming that you are an Indian) fail to see the bad qualities of others when we blame our people. But in SA, even Kallis is portrayed as aloser v/s people like Grame Smith, Donald, etc.
But I support you against fanatic followers of people, be it Sachin or Dhoni or anyone.
Against the 3 greatest fast bowlers of his era, whom he faced in more than one Test series, McGrath, Donald and Akram, Sachin has scored 1719 Test runs at a modest average of 34.3 (compared to his career average of 56).

ok..u take this stat too...He avgs 67.6 on test matches india have won and averages 57 in ODI matches india have won in which he has been a part of..Still critics like you think he is not a match winner..

Jithin George My comment was that Sachin is an ordinary player against Quality Pace attack.I did not mention about Winning or loosing.In tests Sachin Averages Pathetic 32 against South Africa when Allan Donald Plays .His average is 32 again Against Pakistan When Wasim Akram Plays.His average Against Australia is 36.77 when Mcgrath plays but when Mcgrath is Absent his Average against Australia is 70.BriAn lara when plays against Australia with Mcgrath playing has an staggering Average of 64.88.

In ODIs too he always Struggled againsy these fast bowlers.In 76 Matches where he played yhese three bowlers his average is mere 31.In these 76 Matches he scored only 2 centuries which were on Indian Pitches.Against Allan Donald he crossed fifty just3 times in 26 innings.

If he is so Match Winner why none of his test innings in Wisden top100 match innings.Brian lara got 2 innings in Top 10(ten) only.Jow?Why?When Wisden was asked about it their reply was in this list no place for personal achievments or Loosing cause innings.

Hey George If he is such a big Match Winner then Why he has only 14 Man of Matches in 181 Test Matches Whereas Jacques Kallis has 22 Man of Matches in 145 test matched only .Even Ricky ponting Akram Steve Waugh all has better Man of Match Ratio than Sachin.Whhhhhhhjyyyyyyyyyy?

My friend Silver Mani, I accept that you are telling the truth. Also, please tell me any Indian batsman who plays pace well. Our batsmen are trained to play only slow, spin and medium pace (if such a word exists).
By the way, has your post got to do anything with the article about leaving foreign player from MI? Please enlighten the readers on Rediff.
