He has gone nuts
by pradeep agarwal on Oct 05, 2011 01:45 PM  | Hide replies

He has lost his balance of mind with just one series loss. This shows that he is not even close to likes of Patudi,Ganguly the two captains who developed Indian team against adversities & never allowed defeat to demoralize them.MSD has lost his lucky charm & soon will loose his captaincy unless he works on his batting & keeping which are below test standard.

pradeep agarwal, it is not dhoni but YOU who has gone nuts...dhoni is one of the most toughest players ever to play cricket...

he is not demoralised...he is just being practical and one who accepts reality... he is the type who is detached with the results of his work...he does what he can the best he can and leaves the rest with HIM... he is detached in wins and he is detached in losses...he is one who is not affected by what people say about him or however adverse the situation around him is...he believes in fighting hard and winning...i have not seen a cricketer who is more win hungry than him...however tired he may be however responsibility you put on him he accepts it uncomplaingly and unflinchingly and tries to give his best...he is like an atlas who has carried indian cricket for the last 3-4 years with whatever resources are made available to him...he has helped us win many matches and tournaments and that too with realtively new or inexperienced players...

pataudi and ganguly were good no doubt but they had more experienced hands with them than dhoni has..also i dont think that they were abused as much by indian fans as dhoni has been even though dhoni has won more matches for us than these 2 and lost less matches than these 2...

dhoni is not a normal average indian wicket keeper we have got so used to...he is more in the gilchrist mould...
instead of appreciating a hero like dhoni so many people here are abusing him.

IF dhoni decides to SHRUG...

It is your view & you have every right to have one.I can say one & only thing that only someone who has never played cricket would compare his keeping with Gilchrist who is one of the all time great keeper.I can count that ball landed in middle of his gloves not more than a dozen time in entire English series.

pradeep agarwal, i am not comparing dhoni's wicket keeping with gilchrist wicket keeping. yes gilchrist is a much better wicket keeper than dhoni. it was just a general comment. no comparison of wicket keeping abilities. i meant that in dhoni we have somebody of gilchrist type. our average indian wkt keeper like kirmani, engineer, more etc. dhoni is not like them. dhoni is much better than the above 3 indian keepers as also other indian keepers to date. He is a better captain and better batsman and as good a keeper as any other indian wicket keeper.

i meant that like gilchrist dhoni is good captain a good batsman attacking player and always looking at how to win games...somebody with a positive attitude and not a loser type somebody who gives up easily...

My dear it seems that you were not born in era when Engineer & Kirmani kept wickets. Dhoni will flourish as keeper by just watching videos of these two greatest keepers ever produced by India. He showed his lack of knowledge about Indian cricket history in a famous interview by saying that he has never heard of Engineer.

pradeep agarwal...i have watched llyod, chandra, prasanna, gomes, kirmani, bedi, venkat, kalicharan, asif iqbal, mohinder etc. playing with my own eyes live...i used to hear the radio programme 'cricket with vijay merchant' with enthusiasm and never miss it...

btw dhoni is a player not a historian. lack of knowledge about indian cricket history does not mean he is bad wicket keeper. not eveybody has access to all information at all the times. ask kirmani and engineer about our first wicket keeper they would also probably not know. ask gilchrist about history of aussie wkt keepers. a journalist, an statistician will know more than gilchrist about aussie cricket history. somebody who is 80 yrs. old cricket fan will know more about history of cricket than gilchrist even though he might never have played cricket...

pradeep, take toppers in any field and ask them about older generation people in their field. they will express their ignorance. ask amitabh, amir khan about stars of yesteryears. they will admit their ignorance. extras of that time or journalists of that or movies fans of that time will to tell you more. just because amir or amitabh may not be knowing all the that does not mean they are bad actors. ask new generation singers about many old timers singers. they also may not have much knowledge. that does not mean they cannot sing well...ask anand about history of indian chess or world chess. he will also admit that he does not know too much and will say his job is playing chess not giving lecures about history of chess... and so on in any field...

pradeep agarwal, perhaps you dont know everybody has off days and everybody has good days. dhoni has also kept brilliantly at times and has records about wicket keeping in his names also. he also has record about maximum dismissals in an innings. if past wicket keepers may criticise him at times know that kirmani and engineer have also been criticised by THEIR seniors when these 2 kept badly. kirmani and engineer also at times have kept pathetically...in fact venkat was once so incensed by kirmani dropping catches off his bowling that he lost faith in kirmani's abilities as a keeper and later as a selector he dropped kirmani because he no longer trusted his keeping abilities...so on a england tour instead of kirmani bharat reddy was chosen. kirmani was in a state of shock and that day he just sat in a taxi and asked the driver to just drive around anywhere he wished till he got over the shock...gavaskar has written this incident in his book.

dhoni can inspire his players when the chips are down and he has done it many times in the past. people are reading too much into the loss in england. england were at the peak of their form playing in home conditions and with fit players and since they were playing at home they could get a replacement whenever they wanted. on the other hand indian players were mostly not at their peak physically and mentally. constant playing had made them tired and less enthusiastic. also many had injury problems. the injuries were raising their heads suddenly and in large numbers so that even getting the replacements was not easy. if people get injured left right and centre there is not much that ANYBODY can do. if players get injured while the match is going on like gambhir, zaheer etc. nothing much can be done about it. if it had happened in india also it would have been very difficult to get a replacement. it is difficult to play with 9 or 10 players that too abroad when you are jaded and the opposition is at their peak, and raring to go. not tired and injured.

with our best batsmen and bowlers not there this was going to happen. imagine the no. 1 aus team, if like us they also had to play without hayden, langer, mcgrath, warne like we had to without sehwag gambhir, zaheer bhajji, the same thing would have happened to australia also even though no. 1 team.

and youngistan ''cool'' players are also stung and hurt with the defeat. NOBODY likes to lose.

the situation in england was something very unique and not likely to happen again and again. like dhoni said ''everything possible that could go wrong happened'' in such cases even god would not have been able to do anything. if instead of dhoni it was dravid, ganguly, sehwag, sachin, bhajji, gambhir, kumble or ANYBODY the result would have been more or less same....

So it means Dhoni is not in control of the team. This is very bad for Indian cricket.Definitely he needs rest now.It is better that Parthiv/Kartik take care of keeping till Dhoni is fit to play.

If you are not in control of your team you are not fit to be a captain. We know that Dhoni is capable so we have expectations from him.do we expect anything from players like sachin/lakshman/dravid whose days are over?I agree when you say Dhoni is stressed out and needs a break to regain his old form.it is not bcci which will help him if he has a career damaging injury.he will be left alone by bcci.i dont know why he is playing with an injury.for india, dhoni is important.his health should be the top priority and not such b-grade contests like chompions league.

haa haa, now because you are exited telling all these stories of getting rest(carefully read not TAKING).incase CSK proceeds further then there is no need of rest because of money they are getting.after this if they failed again at home with England, then different stories of playing too much cricket will come in front.
dhoni stop all these kids stories. if youare really interested in country you are representing and thinking that playing too much cricket why you are not skipped the CL T20.

What does IPL performance have to do with the Indian team's performance ? There are 3 members of CSK in the Indian team and the CLT20 came 3 months after the WC . Do you expect every player to play at the same level throughout , even after a long , tiring tour ? If you think cricket is fixed , don't follow it . Do you really think the Australian , English or SA teams ( just as examples ) would play badly for money or would be ready to fix matches in a prestigious world cup ?

Only the beginning of the year till WC 2011 was good as we won under his captaincy. Once the England tour started , it was disastrous for Dhoni.
1) Lost the Test Series and gave away no.1 spot 2 england.
2) Lost ODI and 1 20-20 match too.

U want to take rest....then dont participate. Y Screw up the whole teams winning model? I think after David Warner's innings, Dhoni knew that he is going to lose and seems like he was thinking of an excuse during the entire CSK innings :). What a dud

A.N.Ahmed of Mumbai Indian is highest wicket taking Indian bowler in CL 20.He dismissed some of the top names in cricket and is a reasonably fast bowler(135-145 km/hr).Why Indian team does not pick him up to replace the patients?
