GAMBHIR SLEEPWALKING ON TO THE PITCH ?---II
by damodaran mohan on Dec 01, 2011 02:10 PM

The way S Raina gets out every time , perhaps BCCI must be apprehensive playing him in the Tests. R Sharma played a memorable innings but should have finished the game. Jadeja and V Kumar also had very useful contributions in the win with the bat. V Kumar and U Yadav appear very mature remaining calm and collected even under stress. It should help V Kumar get into the Aus tour squad in place of injured P kumar. R Ashwin will have to work on his atrocious running between the wickets before the Aus tour. V Aron appears to be real confusion master capable of creating panic where none reqd. Team management must work on all these small pluses and minuses of youngsters towards preparing them for the all important Aus tour. As far as WI is concerned it seems for some reason they are unable to press home the advantage when India is virtually on the mat. In fact it was not India which won but WI which lost from a certain winning position. Given this background it looks unlikely that WI can win any game unless India play even worse and the laid back attitude of Sehwag makes it possible for them..

While the two pacers should be complimented for not losing their nerves it was a typical sample of a match as to how India should not play cricket. But for the young bowlers who excelled once again with the ball and some late order patient batting the match was lost for all practical purposes. It was not just the complacency but right from the strategy stage the easy going Sehwag seems to have got most of the things wrong. Not a great fan of Sehwag's captaincy for the DD in IPL he must remember that he is captaining team India and not an IPL side. When the Sehwag-Gambhir settled opening pair that is reqd. as much to play together as possible before the Australia Test series shortly is available going for Parthiv Patel makes little sense. Given Parthiv’s limitation he should be treated as an additional player but not as a regular batsman and should come down the batting order may be just before Jadeja.Let us hope Sehwag would correct mistakes as he said after he match. But what is the coach doing ? Further, Sehwag’s bosom friend Gambhir the way he was executing the ‘cut’ shot the ball with extra bounce appears to be walking straight out of bed on to the pitch. Such sleep walking is hardly going to help for the Aus tour!

both gambhir and kohli are politicians and unreliable

gambhir and kohli might score in next match. Rahane needs to replace gambhir, tendulkar needs to replace kohli until we develop a better replacement.

had it not been the last pair which score the vital 11 runs, you would have been cursing Rohit for throwing its wicket at the crusial juncture...its an eye opener for all the dickheads...

Rohit can't just be a performer. He should demonstrate that he is a match winner. Better luck next for him.

Good job

Good job by our boys..... With the absence of Zaheer, Harbhajan, Dhoni, Yuvraj & Sachin the guys did well to win the match.
Apart from tailenders, credit should be given to Rohit Sharma & Jadeja for their knocks.
Many people (specially the fanatic followers of Sachin & Dhoni) will have other thoughts. Some of them would have expected India to lose so that they could say "Our hero wasnt there, so we lost" :)

Congrats again Team India....! I pray that we win all the remaining matches.

you mean Harbhajan's absence really matter any more ???? You are joking. Harbhajan can pick himself for the IPL and IPL only.

Harbhajan is the best off spin bowler of India. Dhoni knows that. That is why he is being rested till Ojha and Ashwin fail. When they fail, Harbhajan will be called back. It happened to Dravid in ODIs, same will happen to Harbhajan now.

Rohit played a match winning inning will say all the experts, especially on Rediff.

Had the tailenders not scored those last few runs, then the experts would have said Rohit is not a match winner and plays just for records..

So the take away: So whether a batsman is self ish or not is determined by the taileners or whoever comes next.

Cricket ia funny game. But experts analysts are funnier.

Yes, Its in this context that Ashwin gave away the Wankade test match in a platter. What others do to reach the target is important but its also vital that how the guy in the middle finishes..does not matter if he is specialist batsman or not. If its a matter of 8 - 10 runs anyone should complete the task - either he gets out or succeeds - not settle for a tame draw. In this regard Ashwin missed out on a golden chance for India to whitewash WI.

Gautam Gambhir needs to be dropped. he is another Harbhajan
by Manish Kulkarni on Nov 30, 2011 01:55 AM  | Hide replies

living on past records. He looks clueless half of the time and tries to play like Sehwag and falls apart. This guy is having free ride. time to drop him. he has taken his position for granted like Harbhajan. Ajinkya Rahane is far better player with more hunger. Pathetic Patel another loser who fails to hang around. It's shocking how many opportunities this short fella got yet he failed..

Do not discount what he did in the world cup. he is a talented player no doubt one match or a series doesn't take away the credit he has.

Good Observation. If no one else is in the fray, then point to hv Gauti. Else Gauti should be asked to step aside and try those Rahane, Uthapa, who are inform currently.
