Team Selection
by Ismail Qureshi on Nov 27, 2011 01:02 PM  | Hide replies

As per selector Sri Kanth, I agreed with him. The important aspect of the team selection on match basis rightly said by him. I think most important aspect of the success tour for India in Australia will be the conditions should be utilized by our team. But in my experience it is very difficult task ahead to beat Aussi in their home soil and remember in the morning secession of each match ball swing both the way. We have experienced batsmen of the world like Tendulkar, Rahul and Laxman. So far as Zaheer Khan, if he pass the fitness examination conditionally included then India have balance Team, as he is guide to our young fast ballers. Hope, so best of luck India.

STILL HARBAJAN IGNORED. I DO NOT HAVE IDEA WHY HE WAS LEFT OUT. INDIA NEEDED VICTORY AND HE IS QUITE CAPABLE EVEN HE HAS GOT BATTING SKILLED IN SOUTH AFRICA.

YES You are right.Dhoni is the biggest match fixer. The recent test was supposed to be end in a draw and same thing happened after the drama by the indian team.As everyone says yuvraj and bhajji fixed macthes then i guess captain was involved too......If Hansie Cronjie could fix Matches then why cant Tendulkar do the same????????? He wasnt said or considered as great as he is now when he began his carrer. His first one 100 came after some 80 odd matches if i am right....cmon people wake up this whole game is fixed....

See, Saha is a tourist WK. He will play in 1/2 side matches and come back after the Test series. Then Patel will arrive and play ODIs as batsman. Otherwise Saha and Patel are batsman of same calibre and are in great form in domestics.

Parthiv is the better batsman without a doubt. So he has been selected for the ODIs in India and maybe he will be selected for the ODIs in Australia too.
Saha is the better wicket keeper and will merely provide a cover for Dhoni who will obviously play all Tests in Australia.

In fact it is a fair & mature decision!

Sometimes we also need to understand(SHOULD WE?) the the zone based compulsions on the selections (Its long time they did away with it if they really needed the team to be NO.1)

Reading lots of comments by typical armchair critics about Bhajji. Not taking him to Australia will be a mistake! As always said in cricket...form is temporary but class is permanent. Keep going Bhajji...You are a match winner!!!!!

i thinkn u people never saw harbajan's performance in australia. his average is worst in australia. first know about cricket and then post comment. already enough chances are given to him and now it is the turn for ashwin and ojha. harbajan only bowls well only in india that too when kumble bowls at the other end. when kumble retired everybody know what happened to him.

Past performances doesn't guarantee future performance even with all the experience. I don't know about you guys but I like competition. It's good for cricket in India.

When Ashwin was selected for ODI ,people said it was Srikant's bias towards Tamil Nadu. He succeeded and took lot of wikets. When he was selected on the basis of performance, people said he will not succeed in Test Criket. Now when he achieved success in Tests, people are saying he got wickets because of Spinning trace in India. Now he is selected for Australian Tour , now you are saying he will be thrashed. If he succeeds in Australia, what would you say? You will say Australian Team is weak. You are not following cricket performance, but biased towards certain person

Harbhajan averages 73 in Australia. Don't confuse with his bowling at home against Aussies

zaheer versus punter will be big game to watch as zaheer has sent punter back to tent dozen times like glen macgrath sent sachin back to tent so we must enjoy & predict the mind game like this zaheer will surely not allow punter to play johnseberg type knock when punter outplayed indians

What say?
by Jai Babu on Nov 27, 2011 09:46 AM

If India wants to win the Test series against Australia, we need to give up over dependence on batting ands select 5 bowlers. That could be an easier option as Ashwin has shown batting ability too.
The team composition should be
1. Gambhir
2. Sehwag
3. Dravid
4. Tendulkar
5. Laxman
6. Dhoni (Wicket Keeper)
7. Ashwin
8. Ojha
9. Zaheer
10. Ishant
11. Yadav
That would give us 5 frontline batsmen, a wicket keeper batsman, an offspinner, a leftarm spinner, a leftarm medium pacer and 2 rightarm fast bowlers

Such a great match winner , IPL has just murdered this great bowler . 20-20 is just restricting the batsmen , and depending on unforced errors by batsmen . Find it difficult to see him coming back .The fact is he has done well very well against all team in the past .The new spinners have done well against a very weak team . Ojha was a passenger in WI & England Why Can any one explain ?

Correct . Where is the quota for Punjab the progressive state of India. You shd also look at it from the angle of non - inclusion of a sikh when the PM of the country is a Sikh.

I agree Madan...

Bhajji is a proven match winner, whereas Ojha and Ashwin just got lucky to prove themselves on Indian spin frndly pitches and against a weaker side like WIs...

Srikanth is spoiling Bhajjis career... But Bhajji will be bak soon...

JUST A BAD PATCH FOR HARBHAJAN DOESNOT MEAN HE IS FINISHED. HE HAD BEEN MAIN STRIKE BOWLER FOR INDIA TILL LAST YEAR. AFTER ALL HE IS AN AGRRESSIVE & FIGHTING SPIRIT. BESIDES THAT HE CAN BAT ALSO. HIS RECORDS AGAINST KANGAROO SPEAKS AMPLY ABOUT IT THAT HOW HE CAUSED CHILLING SCARES IN SPINES OF KANGAROOS EVEN ON PACER FRIENDLY WICKETS. SELECTORS MUST REVIEW SCENARIO ONCE AGAIN AND RECONSIDER THEIR IGNORING HIM FROM SQUAD GOING TO DOWN UNDER IN A FEW DAYS. WHO KNOW HE COULD BE A GAME CHANGER.
