Team selection for the tour of australia
by K Ram on Nov 17, 2011 06:39 PM  | Hide replies

Let Zak / Nehra / Munaf / Praveen be not considered for selection for the tour down under if they're not 100% match fit and if they can not play all the matches. Of late, it has become Zak's habit to declare his fitness and availability for selection prior to any tour abroad and breakdown in the beginning itself. It's not a jolly trip or honeymoon nor he's making it on his dad's money. Players half fit or not match fit must be ignored however talented they're and whatever be their past records in Australia. In the case of one Mr. Harbhajan Singh, he's terribly off colour and is not even taking wickets in the Ranji matches in helping home conditions. He definitely is past his prime and he can only enter contention after proving his worth in the domestic matches. Rubbish and idiotic justifications like, " Form is temporary and class is permanent" by vested interests must clearly be ignored by the selection committee. It must be, Ojha, Ashwin and Amit Mishra / Piyush Chawla (if a leggie is required at all) for the spin department. Yuvi has had share of chances and it's not fair to keep someone as talented as Virat waiting. Virat must be considered ahead of Yuvi and Let Pujara play domestic cricket and prove his fitness before being considered.

Spot on Ram. I truly endorse your views. For Australian tour I think we can limit our spinners to Ojha and Ashwin only. The leggies Piyush and Amish are truly not test class.

Ashwin was ordinary in this match.....both wickets and runs containment....which is why we must not over react ...both praise and criticism.

Ur harsh on Zaheer..he has been our only matchwinner in Tests for the last 2 years..the numero uno rank that India held for some time was becoz of ZAK only donot forget nd in fact none of your so called fit pace bowlers are even 10% of ZAk

we have already played heavily by taking him to england as well. If he can last 3 matches at least , take him , else there is no point in taking a half fit Zaheer as a bogey.

Good Win & Possible Alteration of Players
by Gokul Sharma on Nov 17, 2011 05:43 PM

Very Good Win for Indian Team. Young Bowelers have collectively bowled well. I emphasise that Yuvaraj Sing should be changed with a young batsman, like Kohli, Badrinath etc.
