A great player - a bad coach !
by Prakash Kalash on Nov 19, 2011 03:20 PM

Greg Chappel is one of the greats in cricket, but, the second innings as a 'coach' has been a disaster ! Neither was he considered a great captain when he was appointed as one !
Not every great player (batsmen or bowler) is good at everything he does ! Agree ?

Indian Cricketers are best - No need for Fool Chappal's comments
by Mathews George on Nov 13, 2011 07:45 PM

Sourav Ganguly is the best Indian Captain of modern era with guts and leadership. Chappal tried to finish his career at least 3 years early and BCCI got trapped in that. Sachin is the best ever Cricketer he has also seen but the pigbrain can not swallow it. that's why he is blabbering. Rahul Dravid is anytime better than anyone and the best test player. Ponting is just a shadow in front of him. where are the once besrt Aussies now?? Everyone says India is best in India only. My answer is then why Aussies, England and others could not play better in INDIA????? If England were great in their country why they got whitewashed in India. Everyone is good in their area. Why Indian Media and our fans throw dirt on our own players??? We must be proud on their achievements. Even if Dhoni was out form for long and enjoyed the best team mates efforts let us be happy that India is doing good. Don't give ears to the hollow head chappals

by Mathews George on Nov 13, 2011 07:32 PM

He is not chappel he is CHAPPAL. give that value only. he tried to demolish Indian team and is trying for media attention now. Who cares this "IDIOT". He and his brother planned the most infamous underarm to cheat a gentleman's game of that time. Don;t try to throw dirt on him. he is not worthy since he is a filthy one.

A failed coach!
by Brett on Nov 12, 2011 09:36 AM

Chappell can't digest the fact that he was a failure and presenting a story that is nothing more than a series of lame excuses. How do you explain a failure? By accepting it first or by pointing fingers? He failed to recognize the gritty confidence of Ganguly, underestimated the talent of Tendulkar and didn't recognize the skillful Dhoni. He couldn't connect with the team, the team made efforts to connect with him instead. He was unapproachable and imposed his authoritarian style to bring changes that destroyed the careers of Munaf Patel, Irfan pathan, Ganguly and almost Tendulkar. Good coaches work with the players and bring the best out of them, none could give their best in his time-instead his style inflicted so much fear that it almost brought the worst out of everyone- the result was obvious-a pathetic and sad loss at the world cup.

He wanted to bring changes but never brought the change in himself- doesn't know the basic rule of coaching? He made no effort to connect with the players, understand the media and the crowed.

Today, he has soft words for Tendulkar and Dhoni- even a five year old praises them in India, whats new?- Really, who cares what he has to say about Indian cricket, when he has no clue about Indians- its all a stint to sell his book!

Here are some books he needs to read: a) Asian culture and diversity, b) Relatinshop building-how to improve people skills.
3. Create a win-win situation-learn to bend.

Rightfully, Chappell got a Chappal.

chappal brothers...
by arvin g on Nov 11, 2011 07:36 PM

should be welcomed with chappal garland anywhere they go in india... both ian and greg are anti-indian cricket and anti-sachin... they both tried their best to force sachin to retire so that ponting can take over all batting records... even now aussies at advice of chappal brothers continue to play ponting in the team while they have slipped to bottom of rankings... they are hoping by playing another 10-15 years ponting will be able so score enugh runs to become highest run getter in the world...

by SushamaSwa on Nov 11, 2011 04:50 PM

I think u should act as Gentleman there some incident during your tenure which might not be good , but as elderly person and coach u should act has mentor , what ever happen in dressing room should left in dressing room , it is not advisable to discuss those thing outside.
now why ur writing your book and u want Indian reader to buy your book, then it not suit great man like You.
One thing is thier ur are not sucusseful coach , after your exist Mr Gray kristen , had shown just not talking to media help player, he help Indian team to win World cup and attain Test ranking to Nos.1
that is what great coach are.

Mr. Chappel u said DADA WAS COWARD. this is baseless, irresponsibl
by subrata banerjee on Nov 11, 2011 03:21 PM

This Greig Chappel broke the moral of our the then happy Indian cricket team which had been playing series after series with great success, be it was in home or abroad. Does Chappel know when and under what circumstances Sourav ganguly was offered captaincy by Indian cricket board? I am certain he does not have any information in this matter. Sourav had been performing extremely well as a left handed batsman when very suddenly he was offered captaincy for indian cricket team. There is a great history (disbelieving and stabbing each other within the indian cricket team) for which Sourav ganguly was offered captaincy. In fact, indian cricket board tried their best to find a replacement of Azahar, the then captain who was in great problem because of complaint of match fixing. At that time every member within indian cricket team did not believe each other. First it was offered to Sachin who not only refused but returned to India leaving most vulnarable indian cricket team at the sea. Not a single cricketer dared to accept the captaincy because of disbelief among each other. When Indian cricket board offered Sourav he confidently accepted the captaincy and thereafter led the country in the way, the detail of indian cricket history of which, will be available in the cricket record. Sourav was the first Indian captain who brought the belief in the teammates that all the team members including exras are one. He started to lead the team with great aggresion and could bring faith withi
