Being a cricketer of repute is one thing and being an able cricketing coach is altogether a different matter. I think Chappel failed as a successful coach because he failed to read the psyche of the players . Players like Sachin.Virender, Luxman,Saurav and Yuvi needed to be interacted with in a decent language. I think Chappel lacked an attitude which should have been positively interactive with the players . He was ditatorial, disrespectful,self-imaged anf fixated in his attitude and behavior. The fallout was but natural.He is responsible for demolishing crickters like Irfan Patel whose natural game he totally spoiled. He deserved the kind of disgraceful exit he had.
Greg was a useless coach and knew nothing of leadership, man management and team working. REAL COACH WAS GARY KIRSTEN. He worked wonders with same bunch of guys. HE SHOULD WRITE SOME THING ABOUT GARY KIRSTEN ALSO. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN HONEST ATTEMPT
Its a very old English Trick... Divide and Rule... Chapple by praising Sachin & Dhoni trying to get their supporters against Ganguly (By doing that selling his book to all). I can see so many msgs against Ganguly and against Sachin... See how its so easy to turn us against each other.. based on regional preferences... Ganguly was the best captain by far till that time.. He brought in Sehwag, Yuvraj, Zaheer, Harbhajan, and promoted other young players while not letting rahul, VVS or Sachin feel insecure. Its a tough job captaining Indian Cricket team... and he did very well... No Leader can be good to all... this is the eternal rule of leadership... You cannot please everyone... He did what he thought was good for Indian Cricket... On some issues he may have been wrong but he backed himself... He was ousted after Pawar thought it as a way to get his back on Dalmiya... to show him he is the new boss... Yet he made comeback and did reasonablly ok... This man was our Captain who rejuvenated an ailing Indian Cricket team after Azhar was sacked.. he transformed the way we played the game... Dhoni got a team which had perfect blend of youth and experience... because of Ganguly... Let's show him some respect and not malign his contribution because we support somebody else and an Aussie is saying so...
