There is no law in INdia regarding match fixing; they were only booked under section 420 and which have minimum penalty;
So only thing BCCI could do is to deprive them of the game;

The jail term to Pakistani cricketers has caused deep anguish to Digvijay Singh.Hence he will not be offering any comments for the next two days. He is trying to find out if there was any RSS hand in the sentencing of these cricketers.

We inherited the statute from the British.We implemented and followed the democratic and parliamentary system and framed it by our own lawmakers.What we did not practice is the implementation for fast justice as in the above case,rather we opted for best delaying tactics by finding loopholes in the provisions.The result justice delayed.
The leftover,years of Nalinis,Gurus and Kasabs for table pickles.

TOO HARSH A PUNISHMENT- LOGIC DEFYING
by Kabeer on Nov 03, 2011 05:13 PM  | Hide replies

I cant understand as to why this punishment is so harsh.

The ideal one would be

1. Banning them for life in all forms of sport (not just Cricket)

2. Huge monetary penalty; may be 2 Mio Pakistani Rupees each.

3. Community service equivalent of the number of years of Jail term pronounced.

4. Ban them from visiting Britain for their entire rest of lives.

What great harm one has suffered in their hands except that sportsmanship got destroyed.

The rules for Asians and for whitemen seem to be different.

Indians didnt have the guts to jail Cronje & Co when they were committing all these crimes in India.

Indian Govt let them off to leave the country and never summoned them to India again.

Even when some of those came back to India they were not arrested.

I cant understand why Pakistan goes to lick the posteriors of Britain.

You should be criticizing the Indian authorities for not throwing Cronje and company in jail not the British for enforcing laws of their country. In India we cannot even carry out the sentences of convicted terrorists let alone cheaters and fixers

I agree. Look at the speed at which the entire case was decided. in india it will take atleast 20 years for the same and then there are appeals to higher courts up to supreme court, then to assembly, parliament which will take another 40 odd years. By then you would have spent 60 years either in jail on public money or on bail free to go everywhere and commit more crimes.
