One cannot imagine how happy every Indian must be with this news......Some twenty-five years ago, I'd gone to a property dealer in DDA, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. He happened to be inside and when I saw him I greeted him with a "Salaam Salim bhai". He was "SURPRISED" at being recognised!!..such was the neglect that charismatic cricketers faced when not playing.
Lat of the generation of cricketers who played with pride and passion -it is money all the way now not that I am against this bunch .The game shows the differance.
Heartening to know this charismatic all rounder has been honored.Well done Durani! My generation grew up watching likes of Durani, Jaisimha, Borde, Umrigar, Ramakant Desai...... Atlast India remembers heros of 60's & early 70's !!
I remember a match in Coimbatore Agricultuer College grounds in the early 70's..the fist ball he faced was crashed to a 'sixer'...I remember taking his autograph during the lunch time with my friend Sunderrajan...Good old days....Durrani deserves more than this Rs15 laks...all the best..Prof Ranganathan Pune
Salim Durrani is a great hero of Indian cricket and it is good of BCCI to recognise this. However, in this day and age, Rs 15 lakhs is a small sum of money. BCCI is a rich organisation. The amount should be raised to Rs 50 lakhs so that Salim Durrani can spend his old age in modest comfort.
