BCCI
by drax on May 28, 2011 08:08 AM

BCCI should get out of this IPL business. It is unable to take the right decisions due to its involvement in IPL. Immediately after the IPL is held Indian team always performs badly as noticed during the earlier editions.
India won the WC only because it was held BEFORE the IPL and not AFTER.

Sorry Mr. Sundar Raman it is pay cheque call

If the players were exactly the same amount of match fees as they are being paid in International matches, we would know what these players would do.

Some might think IPL has spoilt cricket, some argue it is giving better money to dozens of other cricketers who wouldnt have made it to the top 11. It would have given confidence to tens of thousands of aspiring cricketers and their parents on their future.

My opinion is, the net result would be neither -ve nor positive. If IPL manages to sustain itself, we may not see another Sachin Tendulkar playing for 22 years, but we may see 15 of them in next 22 years. Sometimes 3-4 playing simultaneously.

PS: To all SRT fans (I am his fan too), I mean no offence to him, but only trying to point to the trend. For the nice man he is, he would agree with me as well

competitive match over non competitive
by Kamal on May 28, 2011 04:25 AM

But a better contest whether it is club or country is better than a non contest. multi team IPL was better than a boring 5 match odi with WI, that will be forgotten like the recent zim tour.

Cricket
by max skinner on May 27, 2011 09:46 PM

Cricket in all it's forms is now similar to entertainment sports like WWE, players are actors and their strings are pulled by invisible people behind the scenes who never will want them to be identified.

The main objective is to generate as much revenue as they can, just the name of titles and match tournaments will be changed. Any actor/player in non compliance will be sorry and gone as the waiting list to break in is too long.

A game very deep
by Basant Bharati on May 27, 2011 08:39 PM

The big players wanted rest and wished to skip WI tour. The board expressed displeasure that it may send wrong signals. The players agreed to go on the tour. Yes they agreed till IPL was on.And when it was over, all backed out on various counts. The board was involved too.

Cricket is a big game.
There is big money in it.

Who cares for the good old game?
Who cares for the good old country?

They have found their fame and fortune too.
Please distribute Navaratnas Bharat Ratnas.

Money is the best motivator.

IF IPL CONTINOUS
by smita R on May 27, 2011 07:11 PM

if IPL will continue from year to year, india will always have to play with B Grade team in internation cricket. There should be restriction on IPL, the player who want rest they should forced to take rest during IPL not during internation cricket, BCCI should got GUTS to kick out such player from national team forever.
