Why is such big hoopla being made on this less than trivial affair. Why are we (THE MEDIA--REDIFF INCLUDED)building an aura of indispensability around Gautam Gambhir or any other cricketer for that matter. There is absolutely no reason to build the importance of any cricketer out of proportion. THE ONLY POSSIBLE REASON IS - WE INDIANS CAN ONLY WIN AT CRICKET (SOMETIMES). A game played by some 10 nations, 4 of which do not really matter. It is time to behave like adults and not like imbeciles.
IPL money is bringing out the best in Indian players,if not all over. Case in point: 1. In a recent match R P Singh bowled and dived twice to stop a run which was quite far from him. I have never seen him do that while playing for the country. 2. Ishant Sharma bowls at his fiery best only in IPL. 3.Chris Gayle is at his best in IPL and at his worst while playing for WI.
