Dear Martin,

Don,t become jealous of Saurav Ganguly,s killer instincts. He was Saurav Ganguly who taught indians how to dominate white people.

by Aseem Ghai on May 21, 2011 08:11 PM

Hey! If Ganguly can do it, anyone can do it!
...this is not correct as what Ganguly has done and what he has achived is not anybody's ball game .Yes he can be a source of inspiration which he actually is ...
He has been so patient and he is such a struggler who believes in " never say die " .

He is as Great as cricket and very few can achieve his level and not anybody as said above..

After Martin Crowe, it is turn of Chappel brothers. Chappel bros -Ian, Greg and Trevor are making comebacks to steer the struggling Aussies to a deeper hole. From India, BS Bedi is thing of making a comeback along with Anshuman Gaekwad. Kapil dev and Kirti Azad also may join them. Sunny Gavaskar has said no to comeback. From Pak the list is long - Zaheer Abbas, Inthikab Alam and Mudassar Nazar have agreed to make comebacks, while Imran has said no because of his busy political schedule. From Windies, only Kanhai and Clive Lloyd have agreed to make comebacks. Roy Dias and Duleep Mendis are the Sri Lankans making comebacks.

One of the all time greats
by navin k on May 21, 2011 02:06 PM

Martin Crowe is definitely one of the all time greats the cricketing world has seen. He is considered as the best batsman from New Zealand and second only to Sir Richard Hadlee when it comes to all time great cricketers from New Zealand.

Unfortunately, injuries cut short his career and he struggled the latter part of his career. As long as he was batting, no team in the world would think that they have won the match.

His record may not speak highly of this man, but he was playing during a time when New Zealand had very few match winners in their side.

There have been many cricketers, especially in English County who have played till the age of 50. English county is professional and demanding domestic cricket.

So if Martin Crowe can select his matches, I believe he can still play at this level.

One of the finest cricketers to have graced this cricketing world, a superb strokemaker, a brilliant captain, cricket fans of all ages definitely will enjoy his batting, his majestic strokeplay and ofcourse the attitude he brings to the field.

I hope he does make a comeback. For me its like watching Sir Vivian Richards, Clive Llyod, David Gower, Mark Waugh and many other greats come back to life and LIVE.

Mr Ganguly/Olddie Crowe
by SANKAR RAMAN on May 20, 2011 05:26 PM

Sourav is only 38 yrs old whereas Mr Crowe is 48. dada is clear 10 yrs younger and is a better player than martin and Sourav's record says so. Ganguly is a much more matured player than Martin.martin's come back will be a disaaster.Cricket in today's world is tougher than when martin was playing. To say the least there can't be any comparison between Sourav & Martin-Sourav is a far better player and Crowe will lose his name if hetied a come back and would lose all his fames!!!

I think I got it slightly wrong... my emphasis was not on comparison between Dada and Crowe... for gods sake the man is 48! Dada is much younger... A comeback at 48 is the 'joker' part for me...

Mr. Wilfred Rhodes of England played his last test at the age of 52 Years & 156 Days - so, nothing wrong if Martin Crowe (one of the stylish batsmen of 20th Century) wishes to make a comeback!

You are unfortunately wrong.

The greatest comeback man from India is Mohinder Amarnath, the cricketer instrumental in India winning the 1983 world cup.

Ganguly is a very good cricketer, no doubt about it. However, Kumble bowled with a broken jaw, Kapil Dev bowled with an injured knee, Sachin Tendulkar played with an injured back and there have been many more cricketers from India who have done the same. Infact MAK Patuadi played with a single eye (the other was a glass eye)! It is just that media those days would talk more about the cricket than controversies and other facets.

Firstly, Ganguly and Crowe should not be compared. They played during different times. If Shane Warne can play till 42, players like John Taicos debut in their late 30s and play till mid 40s, I do not see a reason why Crowe cannot do it.

You should check out some of his innings, against some of the best bowlers of all time (Kapil Dev, Imran Khan, Ian Botham, Dennis Lillee, Walsh, Ambrose, Akram, Waqar Younis etc). Every single bowler respected this man.

Like they say "Form is temporary, skill and talet are permanent."
