Now RCB is fully exposed...
by David Thomas on May 18, 2011 04:30 PM

Now RCB is fully exposed. Without Gayle, they are not really playing as unit.
I think RCB has now realised that they have to pull up their socks so that they enter the Final play-off match.

Captaincy hype
by ASHISH KUMAR on May 18, 2011 02:07 PM  | Hide replies

Gambhir pres conference after win over DC in IPL-4 dated 04/05/11
The left-hander also said that he was enjoying his stint as KKR captain.
"I always enjoyed my captaincy whether it is for India, whether it is for Delhi [ Images ] or this one. You end up taking responsibility, you end up learning a lot, you feel happy when you end up winning," Gambhir said.
"I always believed that there were never great captains and there will be no great captain. There are only great teams. No captain can win you the game. It is the team that wins the game. So far, I am enjoying my captaincy."

I agree 100% with gambhir comment on captaincy.
This captaincy hype is just propgated by mindless fans to promote average players like dhoni, dada etc who could not have survived so long on cricketing skill. Dada aleast was better batsman than useless dhoni

No. I bet if you make Sachin the captain of this same team, they will start losing. Dhoni winning the world cup does not please you, then nothing can ever please you.

The fact of the matter is -it is partially true may be 75% ,all the same with out a good team no captain can win - a good leader can make an ordinary team perform extra ordinarily , all the same if the team is totally useless the captain can do nothing .Do not for ever take this stupid T-20 as Crickets best format .In this even the best team can lose or a useless team can win. A lot of luck is involved -apart from betting mafia if the thinking is right . By just taking names we just miss the point.

As per your logic,America does not need a president, all people are efficient.

A ship does not need a captain

Mahabharat did not need a Krishna

India does not need a prime minister

Coca-cola does not need Indra Nuyi as CEO as it will automatically make profit..

Argentina would have won world cup in 1986 without maradona being captain

my dear ashish kumar, please note that Dada's Pune warrior will show the door to Gambhir's KKR,that team will not even rich last four..

And Dhoni will be in final playing against KXIP or MI.

If you make Dhoni the captain of bangladesh team also,he has the capability to take that team upto semi final..

With every anti dhoni post you make,Dhoni's wealth increases by that time,by USD 10,000...

So,take a break man !

RCB IS ONE MAN ARMY ?
by damodaran mohan on May 18, 2011 01:18 PM

RCB is one man army or may be one and half men army if Virat is also considered. Otherwise how do you explain the humiliating loss of the No.1 side on the Punjabs in the 5th position. Take out Chris Gayle and RCB is but a flop batting unit with even a weaker bowling outfit. Saurab Tiwari was much better player before he got those big millions. On the other hand Vettorie is best out of the inexperienced bowling lot but even Vettorie has also not taken many wickets! Only chance for RCB to win IPL4 is for Chris Gayle not to get out in all the remaining matches including the final in case they make it.

How Malya think RCB will won IPL ?

Bledy what friend, Malya select only one players in RCB and that also very late in the IPL. Chris Gayel is the only one players in RCB. How can RCB won with 1 players when every teams coming with 11 player and sometime with 12 player because one umpires play for other teams.

MS Dhoni is one of the ugly captain in INDIAN Cricket history….As a captain he is doing nothing for INDIAN Cricket…In the last world cup also, his performance was very bad..Gautam Ghambir made very good platform, that’s why Halkat DHONI played in place of Yuvraj and made 91 after getting 2 lifelines…Gautam was the right candidate for Man of the match..but it has been awarded to DHONI politically..We need very talented captain to our cricket team like Saurav Ganguly / Anil Kumble / Kapil Dev etc…

Dhoni is the big match player(Jitna bada match utna bada Player).if yuvraj would have come in final before dhoni ,i am 110 % sure that india would have lost the final.because Yuvraj, sachin, dravid,Ganguly are not match winner they cant't play their natural game under pressure and that's why dhoni is great.Gambhir is also a very good player but as far as mental strength is concerned he is second to dhoni.Dhoni is the greatest cricketer ever to grace the game od cricket.

agree with you. dhoni was well prepared for the innings he played. shows his confidence.

his decision to come early was well thought of. he was prepared for the challenge. and all indian players succumb to pressure be it anybody, as you rightly said. dhoni is no exception to this rule - but that day his body language, his frame of mind and game was totally different - he was determined to WIN.

Few of recent Dhoni credential as a captain:
1)shameful exit in 1st round of T20 wcup 2009 & 2010 after loosing all matches
2)shameful 1st round exit in ICC cup 2009 after loosing all matches
3)shameful 2-4 loss against Aus 2nd grade team at home soil in 2009
4)Loss of 2-4 against same Aus in ODI series last time in 2007
5) Shameful defeat in Asia cup final 2009
6) Shameful defeat in Triangular series in Bangladesh final.
7)Shameful defeat in 3rd ODI against SA when sachin/sehwag rested in home series.
8)Shameful inning defeat in 1st test match against SA in India when dravid/laxman not played due to injury.
9)Loss by an inning against SLK & SA in 1st test of series overseas
10)Loss against last SA ODI series 2-3. ( Ideal score would been 0-5 but luck favoured in two matches).

Dhoni as a player
1)Less than 100 strike rate in T20.
Responsible for all losses in 2nd T20 wcup as couldn’t strike the ball at crucial moment in all 3 matches.
2)Less than 40 avg in Test with No match winning /saving inning in test in entire career.
No overseas hundred (outside subcontinent) in test match against quality attack.
3)Inflated ODI avg in ODI due to no. of not out innings & manipulated batting position taking advantage of captaincy. Played very few match winning inning that also always on flat Indian wicket & against B grade bowling.
4) Pathetic wicketkeeping. Dropped catches in almost all matches.
5)Master in politics as introduced 100% regionalism in team by keeping only NI in team just because they are his friends.

9) Previous captains Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly have said that under Dhoni India will reach greater heights and even all time great Richard Hadlee said that "Under Dhoni, India will become the world no.1 team" and he also said that by this 2-0 win that the Australian dominance in the cricket world had finally come to an end.

10 ) Out of the 6 Test matches Dhoni has captained, the Indian Cricket Team has won 5 of them
And finally

11) 2011 World cup .

This is just the begining

Dhoni's Achievements:

1)Team India went on to win the inaugural T20 cricket World Cup 2007
2) First ever trilateral ODI series win in Australia versus Australia and Sri Lanka CB Series of 2007-08.
3) First ever bilateral ODI series win in Sri Lanka (IDEA CUP) in August 2008.
4) He captained Team India to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2008 at home versus Australia. India went on to win the coveted 4 match Test series (2-0).
5) Also Team India to win the RBS Cup 2008 at home versus England. India went on to win the coveted 2 match Test series (1-0) and the 7 match ODI series (5-0) with the rest of the remaining two ODIs being abandoned.
6) Under his captaincy, India beat Sri Lanka for the second time to clinch the IBDI Fortis Wealthsurance Cup ODI series 2009 (4-1) and the only Twenty20 International, the first Twenty20 International match held in Sri Lanka. This is the second straight series win for Team India in Sri Lanka.
7) On the Indian tour of New Zealand in 2009 under his captaincy Indians created history by clinching their first ever ODI series in New Zealand, the National Bank Series 2009 . Before this, Indians had just won a Test series in New Zealand 41 years ago. Team India have comfortably won the 5 match ODI series (3-1) with an ODI being abandoned due to rain.

do you know in the yester years, India had a great batsman by name Engineer who, now, lives in England. He kept the wicket and also opened the innings with Gavaskar and also played fairly well and scored runs in hot sun. Those days, it was six days match with one day rest after the third day. The game was played I think, for seven hours a day and the grounds were not as they are now for players and in few pitches, batsmen were forced to play on mat.
Atleast Dhoni had ample rest before he could comedown to three or four, ofcourse it depends on the consistency of the opening pairs.

Dhoni never dersved to play in final first.
He had failed in consecutive 25 one days before final.
He flopped in all 8 matches before final in wcup & aal 5 matches in SA ODI series.
Now any other player could have been rested or sacked for that performance but he was continuued in name of capatincy.
Now any tom -dick-harry if given chance to bat after any no. of failures, he will click once a while on flat track.
He is simply a lucky guy survived on politics/manipulation.
After fluke win in 2007 T-20 wcup, india out in 1st round of 2008/2010 T-20 wcup. Dhoni was big failure with bat in all 3 tournamnets, also his slow batting caused many losses in 2008/2010 t-20 wcup.
But he still continuing as T-20 captain- while fact is he doesn't derserve a place in team in T-20 on merit based on his last 26 performances in T-20.
Its all politics

Its happen only in india that player like dhoni continue in team irrespective of failure as batsman just beacuse he is captain of winning team.
See case of Collingwood. He was captain of england T-20 team which won wcup in 2010.
Still he was sacked from team beacuse his performance as batsman was poor & clicked only in one match. Mind u his T-20 intl performance is better than useless dhoni who has not won a single T-20 intl with his batting.
But one good inning in final & this politician dhoni secured his place for next 10 yrs in all format of game in name of captain of winning team.
This happens only in India.
All dhoni fans are political minded people.

Dhoni T-20 internatinal average, strike rate, ODI/Test overseas record agianst quality bowling(Aus/SA etc)& match winning ability is pathetic- still he will continue for next 10 yrs- courtsy politics.
Also dhoni is the most political/regional biased captain in history who clearly favours all northy like chawla, nehra, raina,RP singh,Ishant, praveen etc & ignore more capable from south or from west India.
