first WC 2011, & now IPL IV, india & indians are obsessed with cricket, our newspapers(both vernacular & english)& TV channels are reporting cricket in 4 pages daily & 6-7 hours/day of transmission respectively. i am an avid table tennis fan, used to play the game in my younger days & am a achanta sharath kumar fan. the world table tennis 2011 (WTT 2011)championship was held in rotterdam(holland)from 7-15 may 2011,achanta was the only indian (men) who qualified for the singles event, unfortunately he fell in the first round(this was reported in the newspapers). from then on TV channels & indian newspapers completely blanked out this event, & i just could not know who & which won(individual & country)won the 5 different events in stake. finally from google- wikipedia i was able to get to know that china & its players won & were even runner-up in all 5 events. the reason for blanking out news of WTT 2011, became clear to me, any success of china is just not tolerable to india & indians. i think politics should not be dragged into sports. if we can report on american football & NBL which we do not play, table tennis which has a much larger following deserves a couple of paragraphs in our papers.

Gayle & Polard
by pradeep agarwal on May 16, 2011 07:02 PM  | Hide replies

It is shameful that Gayle was acting so pricy playing for his nation & never coopearted with his new captain. He is not fit for highest level of cricket & WIndies board took correct decision to show him & Polard gate which is already showing of in victory against Pak in last 2 ODI & one test.
