IPL is just a copy of Zee's ICL with format and business practices copied from Football's EPL. This Modi guy didn't do anything other than to make money.
Modi the character less creature ..the man who made cricket (a fun game) to night clubs...is acting like a kid now...i wish to see this guy behind bars soon...also his supporters like mallaya ..silpa..all fr a uds
This person has defied all changes in board & has remained in limelight for ever.He even managed to boot out Niranjan Shah from the position of treasurer & now has the distinction of holding this post & also team that has maximum good players. He runs a big empire with cement companies in south along with his cricketing money machine. If Modi was kicked out for conflict of interestdue to supposedly holding shares in RR then how is he allowed to stay in IPL & BCCI?

That is not an issue. IPL bidding is done in the presence of all the owners of the teams. His running cement companies has nothing to do here. Being in cricket control board does not mean one should not own cement cos or IPL team. Lalit Modi was kicked out because he was corrupt. Do not get confused with both situations.

@ Pradeep - It is avery valid question @ Jay - It represents conflicts of interest. When you are serving as head of BCCI - a national crocketing body and also serving as CEO of a Cement firm, it arouses doubts on one's integrity because of conflicts of interests. To own an IPL team on top of it just makes it worse. If you don't know, Srinivasan couldn't have done it according to the rules of BCCI and they changes the law just for him. Think about it - Wouldn't you try to somehow benefit your firm if you had a control of cash rich BCCI. If if he is not doing that, he should give away either BCCI post or other profit making posts so remain independent of any conflicts of interest. The situation ois very similar to that of a Rajya Sabha MP holding a post of trustee in a for-profit organisation.

May be this will prove the point that Pradeep is making. In the last players auction that was held the different categories were supposed to be auctioned in a random order. However, at the last minute there was a change in the rule and BCCI said that it would go by a pre-fixed order (but did not disclose the order). What if Srinivasan knew the order? Would it benefit CSK? Answer is Yes. CSK was able to retain most of its team and that too without spending too much (If I remember correctly then Mumbai Indians protested after the auction, but it was too late). Is that not an unfair advantage?
He is buddy of DMK chief and party hooligans - so sure to do this. But this is just one source of income...he is BCCI Treasurer and I need not discuss more...

"...some of the matches in the recently-concluded World Cup..."
As quoted above from the article, if at all there is any truth, the one match of the World Cup which was most probably fixed was the SemiFinal between India & Pakistan.
6 dropped catches of Tendulkar & the lack of fighting spirit shown while chasing (not to mention the -ve body language) all points to something fishy by the Pakis.
Only time will tell the truth & I sincerely hope all the crooks behind the whole match-fixing episode are exposed & punished severely for making fool of cricket-crazy people (who are already gone mad for the game).

So u mean to say, as far as India wins against any time, regardless of it's performance, fixing is a good thing otherwise it's a crime....dudh.....

I FULLY AGREE with you. Fans will never agree even if the players are caught red handed or with enough proof of match fixing. Players very well know the mentality of the fans and they encash this.
