Yusuf should replace Gambhir. GG's form is not that good, so we should tweak our top order to promote Yuvi at 3rd spot. Raina MS and YP can take care of middle.

Even with bad form, GG is scoring well. He is dispensable.

Yes, that is a change India should try. They should risk playing Yusuf. Yuvraj at 4, Raina at 5, Yusuf at 6 and Dhoni can bat at No.7

To Drop Kohali is not possible........he is always better than Yusuf. Gambhir can be replace with Yusuf............but this is also not possible...............the main reason is that Yusuf is also not consistent player.

India need extra cushion in batting
by Ian Chappell on Apr 01, 2011 07:22 AM  | Hide replies

I think India need extra cushion in batting as they shown vulnerability in batting in the last two games against Australia and Pakistan. Team should feel itself extremely lucky that it has a player like Suresh Raina who kept his head extremely cool (highly difficult, make no mistake) on both the occasion. If Sachin is lauding him there must be significant reasons behind it. Infact I rate his performances in the last two games as top 2 reasons of India's world cup triumph !
But India can't rely on him alone as luck can't favor Raina every time. India's batting has been under tremendous pressure through out the WC. INDIA NEED YUSUF PATHAN IN FINAL ! As Jayawardhane said the pitch is brown so obviously it will have low bounce and turn so there is no need for extra seamer. Instead India will definitely go with Ashwin but I would say GO WITH PATHAN (he is not a part timer, he is extremely competent spinner and explosive batsman) ! Had Pathan played the Pakistan and Australia match there would not be any panic in the dressing room ! Thankfully Raina played two CRUSIAL knocks otherwise...! So I would say go with PATHAN in the final otherwise Malinga and co. can take Indian batting in the DEEP of Arabian sea !

Ashwin is better choice then Pathan ! He hasn't proved himself as a batsman yet in this WC !

No you need Yusuf because you can't rely on Raina alone and Dhoni is out of form ! Had Yusuf played in Semis the score would be 290 instead of 260 !

Yusuf is also out of form..........he got sufficient opportunities, but he couldn't prove himself..........Yosuf can be replace Dhoni.............Shewag will lead the team.......Dhoni can,t do anything except attractive talk in press conference after Indian team win.

If Yusuf played in Semis the score would be 290 instead of 260, but it can be other way as well. The score would have been 230 instead of 260. He is very inconsistent throughout the tournament. On the other hand, Raina is technically sound and can have the ability to stick on the crease if situation demands.

I'm not saying about Raina's exclusion instead I said play Yusuf in place of a bowler (probably Ashwin) as the wicket is slow and low so he can compensate Ashwin's 10 overs and at the same time give strength to lower order batting ! You need him there coz Dhoni is in miserable form.

Captain's choice
by KVSK Prasad on Apr 01, 2011 06:09 AM  | Hide replies

Don't think opening with Sehwag in the Final is a good idea. Considering that he can play Mendes and Murali better than others, it is better to have him in the middle overs.

If Nehra is out, I am assuming we may get in Praveen Kumar / RP Singh as his replacement. While I would say it is better to bring in Pragyan ojha instead of both of them. Play in 3 spinners and Zaheer. Makes no sense of playing 3 or even 2 seamers. The wicket in Mumbai always supports spinners.

Sehwag in middle, big and useless gamble. Moreover from where will Pravin and RP come to the squad when they are not named in playing 15.
India must go with 2 seamers as opponents are used to play murli and mendis in the nets.I can barely hope them to fail against bhaji and other spinners.
Hope the team management deides the best as was against pakistan

Sri-lanka's middle order batting is weak
by Nikhil Shah on Apr 01, 2011 03:35 AM

One weakness that SL has is the middle order
of Jayawardana, Sameeraweera, LPC Silva and
Mathews. Though Mattews is a good all-rounder,
he is no Raina.

Dhoni has been an aggressive captain, and
wickets at regular intervals should give India
the edge with Kumar Sangakarra holding the
only real threat to bat India out of the match.

If India can hold SL within 275, the chase in
the Final be something to think it can get.

With Sri-Lanka going with 3 spinners, Herath,
Murali and Mendis the Indian batting will be
tested and Gambhir can play an important roles
in playing thesheet anchor.

Kohli, Raina and Dhoni will have thier hands
full and hopefully Yuvraj can counter-attack
the spinners when needed.

All in all it should be a good final and a
difficult one for India even though Australian
batting was better earlier in the QF.

The Sri-Lankan spinners can defend a total of 260 against India if Murali has a field day.
