The peopel who are writing here can take a look at the picture. It clearly shows that sachin was trying to show his arms. But, while walking back to the crease, he realised that UDRS was in place and decided accordingly. As I had mentioned in my earlier post that he had not walked in the IPL match against Chennai SK. The nick was same as that of Ponting's. So, there is no question of the gentlemanship here. As Ganguly said, you do not need to walk as many a times umpire's decisions have gone against you. That way I appreciate Ponting that he still waited for UDRS and he made it clear that there might not be enough camera angles to capture and the decision might go in favour of the batsman.

Ugly Punter!!!
by Ramnivas bhutada on Mar 23, 2011 03:53 PM  | Hide replies

Why are we considering the UGLY Punter's remarks on this issue? If the remarks to be considered of an Aussie, the remarker should be Adam Gilchrist who was criticized by the UGLY Punter in the past for showing sportsmanship related with the same walking-off issue.

Proof: in 1998 sharjah qualifying match-sachin walked off evan though the umpire held him not out and at that time there was no system which could held him out after umpire's decision......you and punter both are stupid.

Why did Sachin stop playing between 1998 and 2011?
He should have contributed to Team India all throughout... shouldn't he? :)

it was because of udrs
by Sunil Vaidya on Mar 23, 2011 03:38 PM  | Hide replies

the only reason sachin walked was because the udrs was in place. if he had not walked the referral would have be taken and sachin would have been proved cheater. ponting incident had happened only recently. sachin admitted it honestly after returning to the pavilion that the udrs would have shown him out and there was no point in hanging around. ganguly has said on tv that sachin has never walked before and let us see if he does that in future.

the truth is with udrs in place there was no point in not walking. sachin certainly did not want to be compared to ponting so he had no choice but to walk.

who is cheater and who is innocent? the world know it, the test match at sydney recently india and austrailia. The ponting made every attempt to cheat and was successful lot of times and had won that match. dont you all know that. Whole austrailia team is a cheater, they think no one can beat them if some one beats them then its was cheating . bloody loosers aussii.

crap ! when did sachin "admit honestly"? to you in private ? this post shows u didnt see the match or the replays, even the expert commentators were not able to spot a nick, and it was obvious that if a review had been taken, sachin would have got the benefit of doubt.

if there was no point in hanging around becoz of udrs, then why did ponting hang around ? does that mean his IQ is negative ?

Grow up dude !

Never heard that Sachin himself walked after getting out in his 21 years of career.

It was all UDRS effect that forced him to leave after getting out.

weel i remember atleast 3-4 times when he has walked when given not out!! On top of that there were so many occasion where he was given out when not out, but did u ever see him crib back to umpire for wrong decision..he plays the game in right way...so other present day cricketers comes close to that!

Mr.Ponting, sachin had walked even against Aus when given not out
by sukhdev sangha on Mar 23, 2011 03:36 PM  | Hide replies

Well I can say that Ponting is wrong in his opinion. I have watched sachin all my life and can tell, he always walks. Forget abt other instance, but sachin had walked away when he was given not out against Aus. In the epic sharjah match where sachin single handed was winning us the match, he edged a short ball when trying to pull. It was over shoulder height, but he had edged it, umpire steve bucker did not give any decision and aussies were appealing. Sachin waited to see if umpire gave a no ball for over shoulder, since umpire didn’t give a no ball(he did not even give him out), he walked off.

You better go and watch all those matched again. May be in one or two cases he walked. Even though Sachin is a gentleman but not a perfect Gentleman in GENTLEMEN's Game. Remember Sachin was suspende for ball tempering.

Ponting's view
by Genda Lal on Mar 23, 2011 03:31 PM  | Hide replies

Umpires are paid for giving judgement. If all players walk down themselves, there is no need for umpires. Players will decides outs, fours, sixes etc.Umpires will lose their jobs. Ponting's view is actually god for umpires.

Cricket is a gentleman's game . there is no place for cheaters . Again , why should u cheat ? Umpires are not God , so they cant catch all , hence , Ponting did a wrong thing.

The "Truth" is that cricket is now a "Cheaters" game, thats why you see all politicians and businessmen involved in it.

Players are just agents of consumer companies who dictate and fix the matches.
