Team India unale to utilize
by Bhabani Hota on Mar 24, 2011 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

Everything is wrong from the day of selection of the team. Rabin Uthapa should have been selected so also Pragyan Ojha. India should have played three spinners with Zahir and Munnaf or may be S.Shreesanth in spite of his non-performance in the beginning. Dhoni has no place in the team except that he is the Captain considering his present form. In any case he is not an accomplished batsman. He is Khuda Mehrban is gadha pehalman. I belive that India will win the World Cup. But I appeal the media in that event not to project such a win, if it happen, as Dhoni's credit.

is it a must that you really follow cricket, cos you dont seem to have any understanding of the game. if you want Robin Utthappa in the team, and Dhoni has no utility, in the team. All these days, you have failed to notice that where has team India reached from March 23, 2007, when they were thrashed out of WC 2007, a team which had Utthappa. Dhoni has almost always competed for no. 1 ODI batsman.

people who talk of Utthappa forget that he failed to score 2 runs in IPL 2009 finals in 5 balls, and earned an angry rebuff from Kumble, of all people. IPL 2010 also, he seemed to win some matches for RCB, but failed in last key matches and RCB crashed out. He has been long lost to 50 overs format, if he couldnt even perform in IPL, which has no seriousness around it.

Tendulkar must retire
by Punter on Mar 24, 2011 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

I guess it is right time for Tendulkar to retire after QF loss of India.
I believe its high time youngsters get a chance to play instead of oldies.

What an Idea Sir Ji? Tendulkar should retire even if he has an average of about 50 for the last 20 matches, and youngsters (like Yusuf, Raina etc.etc.) should play instead of oldies even if they make a century in 100 matches! Bravo!

Who is the writer:
by rajiv gupta on Mar 24, 2011 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

The writer is talking about matches against Ireland and Netherland. In both matches India was on the verge of Victory and only about 2 overs of PP were bowled. Yes it is true that the performance agnst SA & WI was bad, but what is the performance of other teams. Almost all teams have strugled during the PP.

Yes Rajiv I endorse your views. Here in India, whether it is politics, religion, sport, military strategies or any other subject, the writers on this board will step into the shoes of experts and start giving their expert opinions, which are some times even irrelevant. No body can stop you from writing any thing here. About WC teams, if you analyze the performance of each team, every team has struggled on some or the other occasion. Recall the league mathches between Pakistan & Newzealand, England and South Africa, Shrilanka and Pakistan, India and West Indies. All the losing teams in these games were at one point of time placed in a very comfortable position but suddenly crumbled and lost the game. That is the game of cricket and we should accept this reality. Inspite of the allegation of match fixing, absence of leading players and infighting among the players the Pakistani team play as one unit when they are on the filed and the supporters of the team also support them whole heartedly. Whether win or defeat can we all not stand behind our team and pray for its victory today.
