I think Suman has point and his question is valid. Why Qualifier 2 and Final are being played at Chennai? No issue, if only Final is being played at Chennai, but two big matches consecutively, very strange.
Is everything fixed already? Please see below:
May 27: 8 pm: Qualifier 2: Winner of Eliminator vs Loser of Qualifier 1 in Chennai. May 28: 8 pm: Final: Winner of Qualifier 1 vs Winner of Qualifier 2 in Chennai.

Mahesh,
It is not that he will get the answer from BCCI HQ watchmen. It is each cricket fan's right to know that everything is fair in IPL and not predecided.
My question is why such schedule, not assigning the venue properly. Same way, another two big matches are scheduled at Mumbai. Are you trying to make impression that team in Qualifier1 and Eliminator would be Mumbai and Pune team? Same way team in Qualifier2 and final match would be Chennai and other near by team let say Deccan Charger?
Things seems unfair and pre-decided. Then what is the benefit of IPL. DO the toss and give the trophy to the decided team.
May 24:
8 pm: Qualifier 1: First Placed Team vs Second Placed Team in Mumbai.
May 25:
8 pm: Eliminator: Third Placed Team vs Fourth Placed Team in Mumbai.

Because whoever wins in final Chennai crowd will stay till end and appreciate .not run like coward MUmbai fans when there home team lost in IPL3 final.
Whats up with these Eliminators/Qualifiers thing? They are basically semifinals (just worded smartly for public purposes) If a team loses Semifinal 1, it still has a chance to win the IPL. If a team wins Semifinal 2, it still has a chance to lose the IPL?

Interesting change from semi-finals and finals concept. If you finish 1st or 2nd in the standings you get 2 shots in semifinal. If you are 3rd or 4th, you still get a shot but a little harder to get to final, you got to win 2 matches to get there.
Very smart way to reward group match performance in playoffs. I like it.

very good concept. Must be tried at international level also. Final should be Best of 3 Affair
Oh my god...have never ever heard or seen of so much cricket in the entire world..exclding the current world cup, IPL will slowly become 3 months and then 4 months and may be even 6 months also - or do they have plans for twice yearly IPL? gosh...gone case....

Originally Punjab and Rajasthan were not included in IPL 4. Remaining teams were to play 2 matches against each other team. But after Punjab and Rajasthan were added, they kept the total number of matches the same...so some teams are playing less matches than others. For eg, Rajasthan....
I would not think too much about it though.. IPL is just a celebration of Cricket.. So lets enjoy it without thinking.

There are going to be two groups with 5 teams each group. every team has to play twice with the other group team once with with there own group. thats why 14 matches each team.
Re: Confusing Format

Its Simple. Out of 10 teams, each team has to play with 9 other teams. To keep the no. of matches same, one team will play 5 teams on Home & Away basis(Total 10 Games). Same team will play 2 Teams on Home and final TWo on away basis only(Thus total matches will become 10(Home & Away) 2(Home) 2(Away) = 14 nos.
Cricket has been different from past few years. Earlier it used to be domestic letting International caps. These days International success leads to IPL entry..
