Arrival of new india can be said with Yuvarajsingh and kaif in 2000 and not before....
Rediff is taking special efforts to glorify Indian cricketers who failed at the highest level. In continuation of this effort, I want to see articles on - 1. David Johnson 2. Dhiraj Parsana 3. Ghulam Parkar 4. TA Sekhar 5. Bharthi Arun 6. Jacob Martin
Kirti Azad's 71 and 3 successive sixes of Jalaluddin are etched in my memory. I saw it on TV.
Kirti Azad is somewhat of a radical.. he is a BJP MP.
His best knocks are against Pakistan.
Imran ran away from India and all his macho image took such a beating when he said he was injured.
As for the main hero in the article, Sadanand Vishwanath, I know it all. He was friends with Carlton Saldhana another promising Karnataka Cricketer who worked in Syndicate Bank.
After he took to the bottle, Vishwanath even interviewed at a company where my cousin was head of Bengaluru office. My cousin is a huge cricket fan and use to go to parties attended by Srinath and Kumble.
My cousin wanted to hire Sadanand Vishwanath but sadly Visy came drunk to the interview.

his achievements or performances do not seem to be much. But, the hype given by the author is tooooo.......much. To substantiate that he has brought the name of rajiv gandhi etc..,
There is a weird reason why the author is hideous about the central character, as the reader may never read this article once they know the name like BAM at the start itself. So take the reader for a ride and introduce the central character at a very unsuspecting line, which a cursory reader has to search. This is a compelling strategy used by all writers handling very weak subject such as sadanand. Same time if the write up is about dhoni/sachin etc, however crappy it is, people would still read it without missing a word. So readers are partly a cause for this stupid style of writing.
The author seem to be good in english but perhaps bombastic and raw in expression, which sometimes can leave the reader tired at the end.
Articles in which the reader has to search for the name of the individual about whom the whole writing is supposed to be about are irritating. such writing puts one off completely, and reflects poor writing skills and the lack of ability on the part of the writer to engage attention of the reader.

This basically shows how scattered your reading is. I think you need to take medication for ADD.

finally I found the person in the middle of the article- ''nd everyone deemed Sadanand Viswanath to be a worthy successor to Syed Kirmani (his idol)''

It is not because he did not have a god father etc. He was a big drunkard. He was busy with wine and women. I knew his close friend in Bangalore in the 90s. But Sadanand Vishwanath had a tough childhood, with his Father disappearing when he was 10-12 years old. I feel sorry for S.Vishwanath. Good guy who got into wrong company because there was no one to advise him and protect him from the evils of this world.

Yes correct both Vishwanaths (Sandanad and GR) were big drunkards. Thats how they spoilt their cricket life.

GR was not. He was victum of 1983 series in Which Pakistani Players used the screw drivers to Reverse swing. He could not come out of that Mode. He had family Problems Even had Spat Sunil Gavaskar. Sunil Gavaskar was angry because Vishy had problem with his wife Kavita Gavaskar. It was settled after Vishy became father
