No matter who opens batting, If India wants to win, then concentrate on Last 10 overs while batting and bowling....this is the time where India have lost everything in crucial games....
i think gambhir shuld open with shewagh...which will be flowin start..as gambhir and shewagh both can only play 15 overs...later sachin and kohli can mange runs upto 30 to 35 overs...final over will be left to yuvraj ,yusuf, dhoni,,,so team shuld be

gambhir should open because peopel with no understanding of cricket like to give their nonsensical ideas...lol
every time ..peopel will come up n would like to Sachin to go down the order..that only tells their total lack of understanding the game

In last match the opening duo took 142 runs in 18 overs... That means with a run rate of above 6. And the major contribution was from Sachin. Then y, u r telling that Sehwag and Gambhir should open...Pls tell ur points against sachin...
in the match against africa...with steyn bowling fast and quick...why did dhobi take a single run of first ball and make nehra face the fast lethal bowling....this shows that dhobi was himself afraid of getting out and hence exposed nehra...
sachin and gambhir wasted a over or two for their individual milestones while yesterday duminy tried to score so that his team made big score but got out...what sachin and gambhir did was nothing new for indian cricket...but if someone from india does something like what duminy did i am sure atleast a couple of players of india will die of shock...
nehra is the most hopeless bowler in indian conditions...he can neither bowl nor bat...its better if his fielding is not discussed....dhobi was making all efforts to hide him...but nehra provides some "extra services" to dhobi and shirkant and hence his place in team...

What I understood is: -> Dhoni is not confident in his batting, so last match he was just taking singles and giving strike to bowlers, so that at end he will be "NOT OUT", does not matter if he could have scored 5-10 runs extra if he could have taken strike. -> There are few players, who see their individual score rather than team score. You need to hit a six if it is the last ball of match rather take a single so that you can make a hundred. That should be the attitude. -> Nehera just came out from injury and he is not up-to mark in his bowling, still Dhoni is not taking care of the bowling department. Should have been considered others like Srishant.
Dhoni is an adamant and waste captain who does not learn from his mistakes.Whatever success he had was due to his luck which has already gone to his head.He will lead the team out of world cup early so that he can concentrate on IPL.
the right and balanced indian odi team is impossible so long as sachin is selected in the odi team. he should be dropped and our team will become best with the best batsman at the best position. sehwag and gambhir best at no. 1 and 2, kohli at 3 yuvraj at 4 and then dhoni, raina and paithan. actually dhoni can bat at ANY position from 1 to 7 AND do that successfully he can bat to the best potential of any position. look up at his stats, his performances at ALL positions are as good or even better than specialist batsmen of that position. but if we have to take sachin the batting position are going to remain messed up. nothing can be done about it. gambhir can do anything that sachin can and then some. because sachin has to be taken and that too at the top, gambhir's position, virat's position and yuvraj's position is messed up and raina one of our best no. 6 or 7 positon batsman has to be dropped. he can come at that position and can literally play fast and destroy oppositon bowling from ball 1. but since sachin has to be taken everything is messed up. the cost of taking sachin in odi team is too high.

What is this guy thinking? cricket?? not at all!!!! i guess u r thinking of Dhoni and his lil chuckies!!! Without Sachin, the team would be just an average one! No one other than him is consistent in the team, do point atleast one with stats, Sunil! It's not Sachin thats causing imbalance, it's the lack of footwork! Shame you consider Dhoni to be a cricketer at all..he might be a good leader, but not even an average wicket keeper, not to say about being a cricketer. How would u say the cost of Sachin is too high for team? why is it all messed up due to Sachin, provide some facts rather than blabber! Gambhir averages better at no.3(42) to opening (40);Viru averages 36 as an opening batsman; Sachin averages 49 as an opening batsmen. So decide who is to be removed and not based on performance. No one is a better opening batsman than Sachin( and for that matter a better batsman than Sachin )..then how come you say Sachin is hte problem. I do think there is a problem, though not with Sachin, but with someone else which everyone else here woudl be seeing by now!!U need to start thinking than dreamin..have a life, buddy!

Actually the problem is not Sachin. Our main problem is fielding and to some extent a bowling all-rouder. We have only 1 good fielder in playing 11 that is Virat and a good keeper Dhoni. Greg Chappel talked tough to improve fielding and fitness. He was shown the door

at least because of Greg chappell lot of youngsters were inroduced. because of him a lot of new generation players came early than they would have if there was no chappell. people may say he destroyed indian team or whatever, but because of him players like irfan pathan, dhoni, raina, gambhir, etc. came to side earlier than they might have in normal course of events. he rightly said that irfan pathan, dhoni, raina are stars of the future. people say because of him irfan pathan was destroyed. people forget that because of greg chappell irfan's true worth was brought outside. kiran more has said in an interview that chappell had recognised dhoni's worth even then and said that dhoni would be captain in 6 month's time. say whatever about chappell the youngsters have a lot to thank him for.

@Sunil Dhoni as an opener..come one give me a break..just don't criticize someone blindly..either you are not happy with Sachin for some other reasons..or you just don't follow cricket..it is a team game and in no way anybody can criticize Sachin for his performance..the non-performance of others in the team has cost us...even if a team makes 400, bowlers like Patel and nehra can gift runs..what can Sachin do if that Nehra can't bowl yorkers or Bhajji is ineffective

I just want to know why Dhoni alone is being criticized? Senior Players like Sach, Sehwag, Harbh they are also the part of team think tank
Most Importantly where is Guru Gary. When winning all the credit was being given to him. A waste coach who in many years cant even make this Indian side a good fielding unit. He is a total waste
Re: Dhoni and others who to blame?
by Raj India on Mar 16, 2011 04:34 PM
R u kidding???Y to blame Sachin and Sehwag? They are batting very well in this series...Bhaji is also bowling nicley (not getting wickets, but economical)...The captain is criticizing the batsmen for failure? Y he is not speaking about his out of form? Y aswin and sreesanth are not getting opportunity? Y he is changing the batting order in every match? We can not see any game plan in Indias matches... In the last match, India scored 120-130 runs in 15 overs without any wicket. Then y the captain didnt use the batting powerplay then? If he utilised the batting powerplay in 15-20 overs, india would have been scored 180-200 runs in 20 overs and the result would have been different...
Re: Re: Dhoni and others who to blame?
by Vikas Banga on Mar 16, 2011 04:40 PM
I am telling they are also the members of team think tank. Yes captain has to be blamed but senior members Sach, Sehwag and Gary Kirsten are also agreed when these moves like Pathan up the order are happening. Keep one thing in mind. Gary Kirsten is the worst coach. He remains silent and does nothing. Here in India, if anyone talks tough, he has been shown the door like Greg Chappel
Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and others who to blame?
by Raj India on Mar 16, 2011 04:47 PM
That is ok...But, blaming players in front of the media is not good for a captain like he did against Sreesanth...Dhoni could have solved the problem in the dressing room... I think Sreesanth could have been a good alternative for Munaf patel. Munaf does not deserve a place in the indian team...His appearance, non aggressive nature etc will not help the team...So, these moves by Dhoni are not good...That u should admit. Also, Aswin didnt get a chance till now, But piyush chawla played 2-3 matches and he is proved to be a failure...Also, Dhoni should lead from the front. U remember the innings of steve waugh against SA in the 1999 WC when the team was in trouble? Also, waughs innings against india in the sydney test, which saved them the match?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and others who to blame?
by Vikas Banga on Mar 16, 2011 04:56 PM
How do you know Sree was not told to remain calm in dressing room. I am sure he would have been told in the dressing room but he just cant understand. Ashwin or Piyush. Agreed that Ashwin should play and Dhoni will use him as a surprise. He will play in Chennai. Leading from the front-I think Dhoni seldom gets chance. He comes around 40th over in these days. At No. 5 even Sachin cant play perfectly. He always runs away when he pushed down the order
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and others who to blame?
by VENKATESAN GURUSWAMY on Mar 16, 2011 06:16 PM
I agree with u.I think Harbhajan should not play in chennai match and both Ashwin and Chawla should play as twin weapons.Remember Narendra Hirwani's performance in chennai some time back.Definitely it will be a wise move if both Ashwin and Chawla play at chennai.Opponents will be surprised. To control Pollard,Gayle and others, this should be the option
We nee to play with Aswin for Nehara, Raina for Pathan, Shrishant for Munaf, from the Team that Lost to SA. Every Batsman should not try for sixers. They should try to rotate strike with singles. If initial run rate is good they should opt for Power play 16-20 overs. they should Aim at palying all 50 overs with minimum wickets.
Re: Team Vs WI Game
by SUDHIR SANSARE on Mar 16, 2011 04:18 PM
why Munaf Patel is in playing 11. His bowling is directionless. Nehra is not confident bowler than Shreesanth. Piyush is like Warne against Tendulkar. It is Ashwin against Piyush. Nehra against Sreesanth, Munaf should be injured and Irfan Pathan should be called up. As far as Yusuf Pathan is concerned, Dhoni is responsible for his failure. He is gambling with batting order of every batsman. That has backfired him. Order of batting should be Sehvag, Sachin, Gambhi, Virat, Yuvraj, Pathan, Dhoni, Harbhajan then rest of the bowlers. If pathan promoted and failed then Virat should come in and not other batsman.
Dhoni has taken just 96 runs from 5 matches in this world cup. He is playing the helicopter shot only in ads for pepsi... It is high time to sack him...
Re: Dhoni and ads...

When India was winning, Coach Gary took all the credit. Sachin himself spoke for Gary that he was an excellant coach.

Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...

And one more thing, is there any match in the present world cup that India won convincingly??? This also shows Dhoni is a flop as captain...
Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...
by Raj India on Mar 16, 2011 04:00 PM
Dont blame blindly yaar. U know Dhoni became the captain from 2007 onwards...Is there anybody in the team that he groomed as a match winner? All the match winners in the team such as Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Harbhajan and Zaheer are groomed by Saurav Ganguly only and Dhoni is simply enjoying the efforts made by Ganguly...And he is an utter failure nowadays. He is concentrating only on IPL and advertisements, isn't it? He is playing the helicopter shot only in pepsi ads...
Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...
by Nihar Ranjan on Mar 16, 2011 04:34 PM
India's Batting was the strongest during Saurav's days - as also the bowling with Srinath, Kumble, Zaheer and Bhajji. In talent terms neither batting nor the bowling departments of the current team is stronger than that of Saurav's. However, when you compare the win percentage of Sourav (41% if you take out the minnows from the record) and Dhoni (63% -take out the minnows from the record), it is Dhoni who comes out trumps. So with lesser talent Dhoni has been able to give much better (better than all the captains before him) performance as captain. Draw your own conclusion.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...
by Raj India on Mar 16, 2011 04:12 PM
Raina is not Dhoni's finding, he is playing in the team when Dravid was the captain...Can u depend on Yusuf Pathan as a match winner??? Also, Kohli is a match winner and he is the best one down batsman in the current team and he is in good form...In how many matches in this tournament did he bat at No3 or 4??? No, Dhoni is simply wasting him by putting at 6 and 7... And dont blame ganguly...In the famous 2001 test match against Australia in kolkatha, Selectors didnt include Harbhajan in the team...But Ganguly insisted to take him in the team and Harbhajan won the match for India...Ganguly was a captain who was always with his players. But, look at Dhoni, in last serires, he blamed Sreesanth in the press meet and this time, he blamed all his players not to play for the crowd...Y he sent Pathan top in the order in the last match? I think it was to hit six and boundaries...If he want to stay there, dhoni could have sent Yuvi or Kohli...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...
by Vikas Banga on Mar 16, 2011 04:18 PM
How many matches dhoni won because of captaincy. You cant even count.
Kolkata not because of Ganguly, but Dravid and Lax played lifetime innings, otherwise Harbhazan not even needed in the 2nd Innings. Raina was shown the door when Ganguly was captain. Dhoni groomed him Another player Gautam got a chance to play when Ganguly retired. He is also a match winner groomed by Dhoni
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...
by Raj India on Mar 16, 2011 04:24 PM
In Kolkatha test, in the second innings Laxman batted at no-3 position instead of Dravid...That was an intelligent move by Ganguly...I donno y u ppl are not ready to understand the situation...Dhoni has got a good team as ponting got a strong australian team from Steve Waugh...When the gr8 players like Hayden, Mcgrath, warne and Gilchrist retired, ponting is struggling both as a batsman and as a captain...If Dhoni is a gr8 captain as u said, will he be able to make canada or kenya as agreat team, if he became the captain of those teams? Dhoni is a lucky captain, but not a talented captain as steve waugh...No game plan, no strategy etc...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...

Dhoni is loosing all the tosses. Still you people call him the lucky captain.
Yaar he is a good captain who has got a good team. If Sachin has been made the captain of this very team, I am sure he would not produce results as Dhoni does. Captaincy does matter. Here is cricket you are praised for doing one thing good means bowling, batting, keeping, captincy. But Dhoni does 3 things good. Batting-OK Keeping- Excellant Captaincy-OK India should be thankful to have a captain like him

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...
by Sunil Vaidya on Mar 16, 2011 04:29 PM
if sachin was not there we would have scored over 300 runs very easily. because of his presence gambhir our best opener along with sehwag has to bat at no.3, our best no. 3 virat has to bat lower down, ditto for our best no. 4 yuvraj and so on. also we cannot get raina our best batsman at no. 6 or 7. all this because we have to accommodate sachin who unbalances the indian team and no one gets to bat at their best position except sachin (and sehwag). this is too big a price to pay for tendulkar's inclusion. gambhir can do everything that sachin does and then some. thats the price india has to pay to keep sachin in the side.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Dhoni and ads...
by Sunil Vaidya on Mar 16, 2011 04:28 PM
kohli cant play at no. 3 because sachin has to be played at opening position. thats why batting order of yuvi and kohli messed up and raina cant be taken. sachin is a huge liability for indian odi side and we have lost many matches becuse of sahcin.

If kohli cant bat well, that is his inability. why you are blaming sachin for that. If kohli is not batting well replace him with raina. simple equation. And Sachin is batting not at all well but excellent. So let him do. Why you people are jealous of him

very true nihar ranjan. but people with eyes and brains closed shut and refusing to open it and use it what can one do?
besides the other reason is that they feel dhoni has usurped sachin's popularity, credit, deals worth crores etc. sachin is god according to them and can do no wrong. they refuse to share wins with other players for them sachin wins 'single-handedly' but when the time of sharing credit (or rather blame) for defeats come then for them other 10 players responsible 100% and sachin 0%. they dont want to give credit to ANY other indian player so these people can never appreciate anybody else, ganguly, dravid, laxman, bhajji, zaheer, dhoni, yuvraj etc.
the wonderful use that captain dhoni makes of all his players, seniors as well as juniors is awesome. in his captaincy every player, bowler or batsman has flowered. just compare these players stats under dhoni and under previous captains. it is clear that dhoni extracts the best out of them. even with bowlers like ozha, mishra he has helped india win test after test. very few people may be aware that the 10-15 tests that ozha and mishra have played they have been part of winning team 7-8 times and part of losing team just ONCE.
