India almost through to QF...
by ravikant dubey on Mar 15, 2011 12:57 PM  | Hide replies

Indians are almost assured of reaching in QF, however they only lost a single game against the SA, that's too because of their irresponsible batting display in power plays...however their bowling seems to be look likes worst among the test playing nations participating in world cup...

here are the three conditions, if occurred all of them than only it might possible for India ouster from reaching QF...

1. England beat WI by more than 95 Runs...
2. India lost to WI by more than 95 Runs...
3. SA lost to Bangladesh....

so we are most probably IN for QF but I'm not optimistic for further progress in such scenario for India while looking at its Bowling strengths..

Performance

After looking at the performance of team India in league matches, I do not understand that what these chappadganjoos like Nehra, Patel, Chawla are doing in team India..they do deserve to be a part of ODI team no way at no cost..they can be one-match wonders without any consistency...not willing to learn and unintelligent bowlers mostly lacking fitness

This is the joke of the century. Since when did Shreesanth become a classy player.
The only change in the present team should be Ashwin should be brought in place of Chawla

Tactics

I guess Dhoni needs to rework on his plans, strategies and thinking..it is not just about re-ordering or regrouping. There is no need of promoting Yusuf Pathan up the order, replacing a well-set batsman like Virat Kohli. Virat needs to settle down a bit and he can play good quality strokes unlike Pathan who is apower hitter. Virat can keep the flow of runs good rotating strike (very important, learn from Aussies)..you can’t ask him to come down unusually down the order and perform miracles..even if you send Pathan up the order, if he fails Virat should be send in next. Dhoni has over-rated Pathan..he can’t play all strokes..so his position is down 6 and that is the time when you require power hitting etc..when the score looks a bit decent and defendable. The runs he scores are always are a bonus.Of course he can do a bit of bowling, but I am not quite sure how effective he will be on these pitches. Secondly he should have tested Ashwin and Sreesanth a bit earlier in the league matches as this would give him time to adapt and play... he needs to use them tactically as they are genuine wicket taking bowlers. Powerplays need to be carefully taken and utilized. His field setting in terms of slow and agile fielders needs to improve..he needs to use Virat, Raina and Yuvraj in the close-in field or outfield according to situations

Is this a bye from Bangladesh or Pakistan? Either way, we dont care where you are from. We have some miscreants who do stone throwing, but by & large we love our players & it shows in the money they make not like your players begging to play here in IPL to make money or from indulge in match fixing. Either way, we dont envy your players nor you. Good luck with whatever you folks achieve.
