Continuing with the debate,please note that over the wicket delivery for a left hand batsman is the round the wicket delivery for a right hander.
To maintain the off spin,an off-spinner has to forcefully bowl leg spin deliver(the one which comes to the bat in place of going out(leg spin).Therefore,a genuine leg spinner becomes an off spin bowler for a left hand batsman and the incoming deliveries serves the purpose of off-spin for a left hand batsman.
Therefore a leg spinner is a genuine spin bowling choice for left hander where he need not change his bowling grip for the left handed batsman.
Thats why skippers prefer to have one leg spinner(chawla) and one off-spinner(harbhajan) in the bowling attack.
Therefore Dhoni is prefering Chawla over Ashwin...

OS, Sorry, you got is Terribly Wrong here. No off Spinner will maintain the Off Spin for a Left hander, You can Ask anyone who seen more matches and if you don't believe Watch Today Match what Muralidharan bowls to a Left hander.
Your Logic itself is baseless, sorry, If he bowls the otherway it's called Google for Leg spin and Dhoosra for the Off Spin and this type of Balls bowled only 1 or 2 max in a over to confuse a Bastamn.

To tell you the fact, CSK had 2 Off Spinners in their Glory to IPL and CL, if you have Forgot it.
The Logic is Play the better Player not on Quota Basis as Right Hander and Left hander should be Equal Number and Off Spinner and leg Spinner Should be Equal Number.

@Roshni,Harbhajan needs to get atleast 1 or 2 wicket per match,otherwise he is a very economical bowler and provides support to the other bowler to take wickets by keeping one end tight..

why u ignore raina he can bowl for better than chawla he is our master batsman i rated him for better even yusuf,yuvi and dhoni also give him a chance to him i think captain fear for his growth allow him grow he is the future indian cricket ikon

If every one is hard hitter,then who will provide stability to the batting? We also need defensive batsman like Kohli,therefore he is chosen ahead of Raina.
So far bowling is concerned,Pathan(slow off-spin cum slow medium place) and Yuvi(deceptive spin bowling) are better than raina's predictable deliveries.
Further ,Raina has paid the price for partying late night and not being able to catch the bus to attend the inaguration ceremony at Dhaka.He missed the team bus and later went in a car to air port,this act did not please Dhoni...
Raina and Shreesanth need to cool down and bring discipline in their lives..
One must see the career graph of Bhajji post Kumble's retirement. Harbhajan who used to get wickets only because, opposition could not score of Anil Bhai's bowling and in trying to compensate for it in our great legendary offie, Bhajji's overs, they ended up giving away wickets to him and made everyone think as if Bahjji is a class bowler. Gone Kumble, and gone wickets for our legend Harbhajan too. The spinning legend can not even take wickets against minnows even in familiar home conditions. Dhoni once again proved he's biased denying Ashwin a chance and justifies it saying, he (Ashwin) can be thrown in anytime and he can perform unlike Piyush who needs some practice. Why the hell then play Piyush? By the time he gets enough practice, the tournament would have finished for India and he would have given a liberal dose of runs for the opposition. It's only his luck, pure luck that's winning matches for him. Proof : recollect his field placings against Ireland and the Dutch. Just see, how other teams have won comfortably against the associate nations and how we managed to squeezed a win. Dhoni's luck might still work for him and India may still end up reaching semi finals or finals. But, on the basis of how the team has played, this inconsistent team with a fragile attack and brittle batting does not deserve to go beyond the quarters.

Dhoni may dont want to expose Ashwin before QF., So only he is keeping Ashwin back., As Raina all other places are occupied so no place for him.,
