SA can perish under pressure
by George Kurian on Mar 07, 2011 07:43 PM

England became my favourite team in this WC becasue every match they played gave a thrilling and breathtaking finish. There is no wonder SA perished with pressure particularly while chasing.Even at the time SA won two matches without much competition i believed India could defeat them without much challenge.Reasons are
1.Most importantly SA cannot withheld pressure
2.Indian spinners will be a problem for them
3.SA spinners may not be able to create an impact against Indian batsmen.
4.Except Amla and Devilliers SA batsmen including Captain Graeme Smith r not in top form.

Not a choke
by chelsea on Mar 07, 2011 04:14 AM  | Hide replies

SA just can't bat against spin.
Meanwhile its funny how all the English are screaming choke when they're team tied India match from winning position and lost Ireland match from winning position.
For South Africa, any defeat = choke. It means they are expected to win all matches. They should be proud of it.

Theory about SA choking
by French Cuisine on Mar 07, 2011 12:09 AM

I have a speculation of the SA team's propensity to collapse under pressure. The SA team is just too well prepared. They do all the right things, they think soundly (not like Dhoni), are totally professional and plan minutely. The first over sounded like the end - it was all prep - Peterson spinning the 2 openers out. But when they into unfamiliar territory - then all fall down. The moment they are carried out of their preparation they give into nerves and fall apart.

This time No Tendulkar
by sohail khan on Mar 06, 2011 07:02 PM  | Hide replies

This tendulkar is such a waste Sehwaq is always under pressure to score runs and this is the reason he gets out
Let Gambhir open with Sehwaq this will do a lot of good to team India...

We want the cup not 18000 runs

India should go the Pakistan way and play Raina in place of Piyush chawla. Sehwaq, Yousuf and Yuvraj with Raina can bowl 20 overs. also give some more work to Tendulkar he seems to be enjoying every match by just batting and not fielding for entire 50 overs. No one is bigger than the Game ... So bring him back to ground

ashishkumar, sachinghat fan, what has your sachin done so far? failures in ALL 3 innings? first time sehwag and kohli cleaned the mess created by sachin and in next 2 matches dhoni and yuvraj cleaned the mess created by sachin.

Really ? He made 29 of 29 in first match, when Sehwag ran him out. Second match he made 119 of 115, third match he made 38 - second best to UV's 50. But still it's all sachin's fault :)

yes nationalist, REALLY. first match he almost ran out sehwag. if sehwag had run sehwag would have got out. sachin himself was so foolish that he could see that sehwag was not looking at him and so should have kept the possibility of retreating open but he foolishly continued running and got out. in second he was so slow at start of the innings on THAT PITCH that we lost out on many easy runs. the score which could have been at least 375 was not made because of him solely. IMAGINE on THAT PITCH where both sides made nearly 350 runs EASILY, sachin thought nothing about HITTING out a MAIDEN OVER, which in the ultmate analysis cost us the win. for sachin it is always SELF before TEAM. He gets angry if he does not get top position for batting(because he is useless at any other position anyway) where he has all the time in the world to pace his innings to get a hundred (the TEAM INTEREST can go to HELL) and in any other batting position he cannot do that. in the last match again he got out on 38 when actually he had got a golden opportunity to make a 100 and win an UNDERSERVED MOM AS USUAL at the cost of more DESERVING players as usual. I was MOST SHOCKED to see sachin miss out such an opportunity. so unlike sachin. so whats so great about his 38 runs anyway? Kohli made 34, dhoni made 34, yuvraj made 50, yusuf made 30. EVERYBODY played but you keep harping on that 38 runs as if ONLY sachin played well.

sohail, you are a real indian. dont mind pseudo. pseudo also wants india to win and he wants sachin single-handedly to win the WC. but now he has realized that sachin alone cannot do it. that sachin is just useless and dead weight on the indian team. he is just frustrated by the repeated failures and bad performances of sachin and so he is lashing out at you.

So Hail Storm:

I know you want the cup for your team. But please understand that even we Indians want it for OUR team to win it...

So you will sadly have to bear with Sachin Tendulkar's selection in our team, howsoever inconvenient it may prove to be for YOUR favourite team... :)
I know what you are thinking, that Afridi can't keep taking 5 wicket hauls in every match, and you'd definitely want other strong contenders to have progressively weaker batting line ups... But guess what? Indian selectors ain't gonna listen to YOU... so tough luck... :)

pseudo:

dont worry. this youngistan team is unlike all previous indian teams. they were not able to win carrying the dead weight of sachin. But i am very sure the present indian team WILL win this WC INSPITE of dead weight of sachin. i understand that you are irascible because at last you have realized that sachin alone has never before and will never ever win a WC. he needs to piggyback on a good indian team. and this indian team is GOOD.

Is'nt that Morne again
by Arvind Aravindanatham on Mar 06, 2011 06:32 PM  | Hide replies

Morne Morkel does it again, the opposition's eyez light up when they see him coming to bat, this was the same loser who trashed Amla's whole day's work of saving the test match with just an over and 4 balls to go before the match ended v India, last year. SA would;ve won the series if they were able to save that match, if there was'nt for the real choker Morne Morkel in the chokers' eleven.

Being a specialist bowler, it would be really unwise for us to blame Morne. SA has done it once more by choking when they had almost reached the target. They are following the same path that India used to follow a decade back. I remember India making a mess of chasing small targets in the past, ofcourse they are a totally different side right now. So let teh batsmen and bowlers play their role respectively and effectively.

ashish kumar, biggest choker is of course your dear sachin. dhoni always scores under pressure and that is why he has been able to take india to no. 1 position which sachin, ganguly, dravid and kumble could not.
