every body is not lucky like sachin tendulkar and got the too much chance and then sachin did a 1st century in his 69th oneday international match... in india so many gud and fast bowler is there but they dont have to give lakhs of rupees to give Kapil dev for a gettng a chance.. all are corrupt in india those kapil or gavaskar or any body.. those who havng a money or influence then he can get a chance to play in indian cricket team....ths is the real situation my dear.. PAWAR Power ko pahele hataooo.. desh ko bech diyaa hai....

The reason is quite simple. INDIAN youngsters take the easiest (batting) route to earn IPL big bucks as it requires less skill and fitness.

BCCI should force youngsters to take up fast bowling....

IPL has already killed fast bowling (simply put, the whole of bowling) in India. IPL is already making inroads in Indian Fielding and running between the wickets. The prime example is Sehwag who is reluctant to take singles and twos.

The new rules should be amended... THE IPL BIG BUCKS should first go to the fast bowling and then spinners and then finally the batsmen...

ideally india should go with 5 bowlers ( 3 medium pacers & 2 spineers) and the rest should be batsman cum all rounders..

Please limit your 2 spinners and 2 pacers to part timers and not regulars. Dhoni's mantra of inclining to 7 batsmen is actually flawed given the talent of INDIAN team with respect to bowling. Dhoni should enter the field with only batsmen who could be part timers in bowling...

will always play a batsman less
by teja.anand@rediffmail.com on Mar 06, 2011 12:00 PM  | Hide replies

6 or 7 does not make any difference, we will always be short of one batsman and a fielder bcos sehwag is a joker in a pack who might click against minnows but still will not be available for fielding. Dhoni trusts joker in pack bcos he does not believe in the ability. Rightly said he is was a lucky captain and not talented. Dhoni must work on fitness of team than be talking of various combinations

Commenting on Sehwag's fitness is fine. How about the following others

1) Manuf is a fast bowler who cannot run and he is also slower than Afridi. Comically still understanding the basics of the game

2) Zaheer losing fitness while completing an over

3) Harbhajan: Dives after the ball passes by

4) So called youth brigade (V.Kholi): Even he drops sitters the other match

5) Sachin: Probably the fatigueness has got to him of playing 21 years of international cricket. It is shocking to see that heroes are not MATCH FIT at all. Sorry on seeing him not able to bend and collect the ball.

6) Nehra: Can bowl ONLY IF some one carries him to the crease

The list is endless. NONE in the Indian Team is MATCH FIT

well sir i agree that most of the indian players are sloppy on the field but they do contribute against better teams and keep silent unlike sehwag who opens his dirty mouth in public about revenge and stuffs like that and fail to understand his own limitations. Zak & sehwag were the 2 sideleined by our failed coach greg for not giving 100% physically & mentally on the ground. his vison was bulls eye

Dhobi is turning out to be the India's nemesis this World Cup. Going with ONLY 7 batsmen. Already there are no bowlers and fielders.....

Bowling wins the match
by Adarsh Deshmukh on Mar 06, 2011 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

Most of the so called cricketers who come on the TV channels as panel members have failed to point out that its Bowling dept that wins the matches for the side in 5 day or 50 overs version. Most of the 50 overs world cup finals have proven beyond doubt that its the bowling dept that has helped their country to win the finals. There has not been a single instance of a side winning the world cup finals with their batting prowess scoring 280 or 300 runs by batting first or second.

In India, the Indians have usually got carried away by the Cricket's virulent version of T20, with cheergirls, where, as Cricket legend Mr. Ian Chappels had once said as Bowlers grave yard. So, the selectors and little informed cricket fans and ever obliging TV media kept on pampering the batting line of Indian team to the extent that they were the favourites to win the 50 overs cup untill they were rudely shaken when they realised that the weak Bowling dept gave away more than 500 runs in two league matches just to notch one victory with minnows and a tie. So, in T20 matches batting stregnth in the form of hard and savage hitters win the matches but in 5 day and 50 overs its the bowling and aptly supported by feilding that will win matches, where for the moment Indian side look very weak indeed to win the Cup.

Perhaps INDIA should not win the world cup with only batting prowess... Infact it would become a wrong case study for future teams to emulate...

In shorter Version of T20, the bowlers are never tested for they dont bowl more than 5 overs, which is not the case in 5 day and 50 over version. So, in T20 even an average or below average bowler is made to look like an Cricket icon by the media and less knowledgable fans and selection team due to herd mentality.

India beware you are agains Ireland, No.1 ODI team
by Indian Heart on Mar 06, 2011 11:29 AM  | Hide replies

India is playing against World Beaters (Ireland). Dhobi & his men might be wetting their pants. Wonder if they can compete against them. Why is our media creating such a hype? after all it is Ireland & not Australia or South Africa.
Any way Dhobi will make a blunderous mistake by not playing Raina. Why is he so defensive by playing Kohli? Raina is a player who can dessimate any bowler on his day. We need more fearless batsmen like him. On Indian pitches he is irreplacable with bat & ball. Check his IPL heroics. Dhobi is playing politics against him.

Raina is a player who can decimate any bowler on his day... Is it??

May be true in sub-continental conditions. But, how about Indian bowlers getting decimated even by tailenders in the opposing team

Seven batsmen is our strength and we must stick to this...
by cricketfan on Mar 06, 2011 08:13 AM

after all Yuvraj and Yusuf Pathan are not poor in bowling...depending on the pithc,we can go either with 2 fast and 2 spin or 3 fast and 1 spin bowler.Overall we will have six bowlers. If these six can not control the game, I don't think a seventh bowler will change the game.
