India will be through
by MB Sivaramakrishnan on Mar 04, 2011 04:54 PM

India gonna beat Ireland this sunday and netherland on wednesday and make it to QF. SA will beat England this saturday. By next friday, both India and SA would have sealed their semi final spot, possibly WI too (they take on ireland on friday). The problem is for England. If they lose to SA, then they will be under pressure. If Eng lose to BD or if game is rained out, then england can book a ticket to home early. Despite BD pathetic performance today, I still feel BD has half chance of taking on England

It has happened once that doesnt mean it will happen everytime. har roz diwali nahi hoti. ireland is not that capable of being consistent with their performance. this same team folded for 170 vs bangladesh and chased 328 vs england. m sure if they bat first vs india, they wont even cross 200. india will defeat ireland easily. the only thing is that we shd not take ireland lightly and play with full strength side... and play ashwin instead of chawla vs Ireland. we can play chawla against SA.

5 bowlers means less win more lose. In subcontinent batting is most valuable aspect. If you fail in batting it's almost impossible to win a match.

I hope India will win. Irish beat england but lost to bangladesh. The difference was spin. We Indians have very good spin bowlers. So Insha allah We will win.

People are expecting too much from Ireland. Appreciate their good work so far but don't underestimate hot favourite India.

But Our bowling is very similar to that of England. So One can expect the miracle. They need the premium of atleast 370 Runs from the Batsman which is not going to happen every time.

I have mentioned so many times that it's our fielding which makes our bowler stats poor. The same bolwers defended 217 against Australia in practice match. Against England if India had not dropped catched we would have won the match.

Fielding is India's weak point. Bowling is not as bad as media and our old indian experts project.

dude, i agree with u that we defended 215... but that was a spinner friendly wicket.... ball was turning horribly on that wicket... no help for batsman... thats y we folded for 215 and aus for 176.... in WC, our first 2 matches were on batsmans paradise wickets.... no help for spin..

No Sherin
Our bowling is not similar to England.. as because England have only one spinner Swan and he did brilliant bowling against Irish.. and we have minimum 5 spinners in our team

You are right.
Some people do not understand that you can do miracle once, but not win matches on the basis on just couple of players.

You are right!
In ODI, Any day, any poor team can beat any good team..
You can't judge it on the basis of just one day performance..

paper tigers will be defeated by thisIrish Team.
by vrk murthy on Mar 04, 2011 03:39 PM  | Hide replies

Considering their strength in batting and bowling apart from flymboyant oberin Ireland is sure to beat India. We are weakest bowiling and worst fielding inthe entire tournament. Batting is also dependent too much on Sachin, who cannot be expected to score havily all time.
Other match winners(on paper) does not worth their salt. sixes band fours will shower from both side. Dhobi is not expected to be benifitted by his instinctive style of captaincy all time. Let us hope India will show better performance to give a good fight.

I just want to increase your cricket knowledge, that paper tigers team are ranked no. 2 in ODI and No. 1 in Test. and its captain name is Dhoni instead of Dhobi

Be mature enough to comment anythong on your own team and your national team captain

If you analyse the bowling & fielding of India taem, Ireland will surely bear India on Sunday. In indian side, the only wall is Sachin Tendulkar, but he alone cannot win all matches. I feel india will be out of WC in the quarter final, if not in league matches.

Ireland could beat England that is why it is called WC upset. And upsets are done by weak teams and weak team can not be consistent.

Don't let you fears overtake your positive instincts. We all were had similar fears against BD as well and see how India negotiated that.
Albatta, bowling concern has been highlighted but that does not mean that they cannot limit Ireland.
