is selection of Ahswin - a Team fixing?
by kumar on Mar 02, 2011 04:22 AM

I am not sure why Ahswin was selected in the team except that I can say it is a team fix (fixing the team for a tournament)

Ashwin is the Odd man in the team. He is neither a spinner nor an all rounder. Selectors made a big mistahe by selecting Ashwin instead of Ohja or Irfan Pathan. Now India is having shortage on bowling options. As logn as stupid Srikanth is the selector, india is going to have these issues. It's very surprising to see Ashwin keep on getting selected to ODI team and not playing a single match. Then what's the point of having him in the team. Srikanth selected Ashwin just because he is from Tamil Nadu. fortunately dinesh and Vijay failed miserably. Otherwise India would have been playing this tournament with 12 players only.

Only Limited over Cricket should be supported by spectators
by raj r on Mar 01, 2011 06:26 PM  | Hide replies

Cricket as a sports item contributed very much making indians so lazy and wasting so much of time. full day in one day matches and five days in test matches. all test matches should be banned and only limited over matches should be allowed. This would bring up indian's productivity by more than 70%. Jai Hind.

Raj R:

Actually cricket and football should be banned ... Only darts should be allowed... One throw per person variety... quick and easy... Then the productivity will improve by 9,8347.88% :)

Filth everywhere
by Ian Chappell on Mar 01, 2011 05:12 PM  | Hide replies

Even the Aussies authorities can't prevent there players to indulge in these filthy activities ! I think the bookies has made this game full of dirty things and not only this game I think all the games throughout the world has been marred by this evil, be it cricket, Soccer or any other game. We have seen this in Italian serie A, Bundesliga and La Lega soccer leagues and now I think the CANCER is spread in International games but I think Aussies are good in the sense that they insure there teams winning first. But fixing is fixing though !

How can a tied match be fixed?
by rajashi ghosh on Mar 01, 2011 05:04 PM  | Hide replies

It is highly improbable that the match between England and India was fixed. How can everything fall in place and that too this smoothly?

Its not that smooth Rajashi.. U know we lost 7 wickets in last 33 overs... Ian bell was out on 13 but not given after referal too.. he went on to score match deiciding partnership with strauss.. Strauss was caught behind 2 times no body appealed.. England score 28 runs in last 2 overs..with their no 8,9,10 batsmen hitting 6 each.. Indian fielders miss fielded in last over twice to give them extra run n match up.. looks dicy... it was tie whereas Indians should have won the match comfortably against englishmen as they chased target on 290 against Netherland with difficulty..

:-). So if India lose any match it will be proved as Fixing??
Boss everyday is different. Ireland gave a Scare to Bangka, and India gave them 283. Fixing??
Then the common element is India. Eh?? ;-)

you are right . Even in our office we were predicting three outta four was correct. People won't believe I predicted Pitersen's wicekt and strauss going to be LBW. so now should everyone think that I had given money to them or what. like some one mentioned here one or two things might be fixed but not the whole match. I enjoyed the whole damn thing.

See Pseudos,
U know huge amt of money is being put on even 15 over score etc.. Also they have to win 3 matches to go into quarters.. just imagine lots of money been put on both the teams as match kept on swinging on eigther side at times..so bookeis were knowing that they will be in lifetime profit if it ends with drawn..they could have tried to dictate the results..though it might not affected if players are truthfull..just looking at it as dicy..not predicting anything.. i m not a warne mind u

:) I agree with you spot fixing might have happened here or there... But from there to Warne's Tied result prediction = Match fixed; was rather a looooong jump, longer than Carl Lewis's... :)

Tell you what.. IF it was indeed fixed for a Tie; I salute the amount of precision and Exactness involved in planning, and more so the perfection and the skills displayed by the players to EXACTLY bowl the type of balls needed and to hit the type of soaring Sixes needed... I'd rather Warne took over our government and ran it like that clockwork with the efficiency and effectiveness you "saw" into the Sunday match.. :)

warne wudn't have dared to predict if it was fixed for the TIE,
why will someone get into center of cricket world if they were involved in fixing or knowing abt fixing,
and abt warne, he has seen every bit success he deserved as cricketer, he is a complete cricketer, who enjoyed complete success from it,
so every allegations made abt fixing is RUBBISH....
Warne just predicted something different and cameout true thats all.

Those who think that he was doing one must get their heads examined. Warnie is a legend who had the uncanny knack of assessing situations and players. These things small and petty minded people cannot understand.

Always watch the match with sports spirit not with negative thought of fixing.
Then you all get the true taste of cricket else you all will sick soon. Bearing in mind India has not lost the game but it's tied.
Please give cheers to india and players atleast it's draw which was going to slip by us.
