there will be drastic changes
by Sree Kumar on Jun 27, 2011 05:19 PM  | Hide replies

Without changing the existing LBW rules, if the review system is put in place, the test matches will be over is 2 days. Today, the number of reviews are limited. But tomorrow someone may say why limit the no of reviews. let every decision be reviewed.

So the decision to introduce DRS will also involve change in LBW rules.

LBW is the decision which is completely dependent on the Umpire. If LBW decision is not challenged and Hawk Eye is not used to trace the trajectory of the ball, the umpire may take it for granted.

If BCCI is so scared of reviewing LBW decisions because Sachin Tendulkar does not like it, then it should propose to abolish LBW itself so that Mr Tendulkar is never out as LBW.

Yeah right. Said with the assumption that haweye is perfect with the prediction. Honestly BCCI seems sensible wrt technology. India was not convinced with the prediction wrt spin.

BCCI Vs UDRS
by Sarangarajan TS on Jun 27, 2011 04:58 PM  | Hide replies

Good that UDRS is accepted by BCCI of course without the not- so 100% accurate Hawk eye.But hope balls pitched outside the leg stump in deciding LBWs could be checked by the UDRS? If not it would be again hopeless when on so many occasions batsmen are adjudged LBW with deliveries pitching outside the leg stump and on occasions when batsmen are hit outside the off stump.

Good point. Hawk eye can be used for the leg stump line. For judging the height and line of impact, leave it to the umpire. Other features should take care of edges or bat-pad decisions.

ICC is working under the thumb of BCCI....

Ahh!! Since 95% calls of decision reviews are for LBW, if DR system not applicable for LBW decisions then what will be the use of DRS.....

I fully endorse your views. It is stupid to use DRS for other forms of appeal in which the errors are minimal.BCCI has gone crazy and technically challenged
