Desperate Pathan !
by Ananya Gupta on Jun 27, 2011 04:15 PM

Pathan getting desperate -he knows the best place to make a come back is England series where the ball will swing ! However Parveen Kumar ,another good swinger , may have stolen a march over him !

Irfan should be in the ODI team in England
by amarnadh on Jun 27, 2011 04:08 PM  | Hide replies

Irfan Pathan can take the place of the third seamer in England, he will be very effective in the swinging conditions and provide some solidity lower down the order. India need to nurture him carefully since he is our only seaming alrounder. With due respect to yuvraj singh, outside of the subcontinent i donot see him being as effective as he was in the worldcup.

Irfan pathan is far better than Badrianth, Murali Vijay ,Shikhar Dhawan & Manoj tiwary in any team of India. Irfan should make comeback with Cheteswar Pujara immediately.

No luck Irfan

No luck for you Irfan as long as we have Mr. Srikanth heading the selection panel. He will be looking for someone from his state rather than merit. So hav patience till we have someone from Northat the helm.

bs. srikanth has actually done a great job of selecting ppl. the only tamil in the world cup team was a guy who actually did exceptionally well with the ball. and badrinath is somebody who got less chances than gambhir to adjust to the demands of international cricket. For whatever reason, Irfan started performing badly. thats why he is out.

Needs a godfather
by chatter on Jun 27, 2011 01:54 PM  | Hide replies

Irfan needs, more than anything else, a godfather to shepherd him back into the team. He has some issues with some of the selectors, otherwise there is no reason why should not be considered. At his best, he is the best pacer we have. Even on current form he is no worse than those playing now, except maybe Zaheer. And he is a far better batsman than most.

Under what basis he should be brought back to the Indian team ?
He played his last domestic match (without considering IPL) in February 2010 (about 16 months back), and his IPL 2011 performance wasn't exactly outstanding.

Let him perform in domestic matches first.

Do not dream of 140 kmph plus bowlers in our country. Our climate, diet and general physique does not allow it. Mostly our diet is vegetarian or semi vegetarian. To be a consistent 140 kmph plus pacer you need to be a consistent beef eater. That is the only food that will give you that much strength. Even having mutton, pork, fish and eggs will not be enough. Being mostly Hindus we can not have beef. In most states beef is banned. So even the Muslims and Christians can not have beef. So be glad with what we have. Pacers who bowl at 120 kmph plus and occassionally go over 130 kmph.
