DRS and Sir Boycott
by Prafulla Deka on Jun 23, 2011 09:09 PM

Why suddenly Sir Boycott has become enemy of Indian Cricket? May be of late after his illness he was not getting enough exposure and benefits from and in India.
Tendulkar, Dhoni as well as BCCI feel that DRS is incomplete without snickometer and hot-spot facilities, which are valid.
Sir Boycott you may say 'Sorry India, you are in a minority'; we all the Indians can also say, boycott Sir Boycott!

Democracy ?
by Amitabh on Jun 23, 2011 09:06 PM  | Hide replies

It sucks to hear about democracy from Britishers. What happened to democracy when they ruled their colonies. Even now, there are bodies like the United Nations Security Council in which handful of nations including UK hold veto power and do not want to admit other countries in the club. Where does democracy go then ?

Brits were best rulers Indians got. Security council is best institution to prevent wars and to take action when pip squeak big mouth countries like India dont bother to take a position.

I wonder
by my1centp@rediffmail.com on Jun 23, 2011 09:03 PM

If Indian or asian bowlers had overwhelming benefit (about 3:1 or 4:1) on DRS, I wonder if these non-asian countries and commentators will have the same opinion or some scientific opinion that DRS isnt correct at that time..I wasnt sure where the democracy was when Dalmiya was forced out on his first attempt at ICC by aussies and the english (intended lower case)

What a joke...!!!

If a particular technology can be used to point out the defects in the decisions made by the on-field umpires, then why on earth the very job of making decisions cannot be handed over to that technology itself???!!
TV replays and softwares like Hawk-Eye and Hotspot are used to criticize and penalize on-field umpires. Even those who are against UDRS had been seen in television interviews, proving their 'points' entirely based on what the ball-tracking technology revealed.
The BCCI stand on the UDRS is absurd...!!

Junior,
Have u read any documents on ball tracking and if it takes into account that day's humidity, wind velocity and ground condition (of various pitches).. It doesnt.. it is an average.. it is not correct..

It definitely takes into account the bounce in the wicket.
Then, no human being can analyse the day's humidity, wind velocity, and ground condition all by himself before giving an LBW/Caught behind decision.

May be BCCI cannot fix matches by bribing the umpires any more if UDRS is in place???Shame&anti-national action that we a poor country of 1 billion people are still continuing with playing monotonous& time wasting Tests& 3 day matches, etc, May be Baba Ramdev&Anna Hazare must lauch a national agitation to BAN TEST matches&3 Day and One Day Cricket Matches FOREVER.It is time india and poor countries ban Test Cricket& 3 day macthes forever and Play ONLY T20 matches so that millions of man or woman hours are NOT lost watching monotonous test crciket and 3 day macthes, etc. BCCI& rulers are still behaving as slaves of Westerners, shame they have appointed white skinned westerners as coach, assisistant coach etc paying millions of dollars though we have excellent indian coaches like jimmy amarnath, madan lal and so maany other who can do better jobs than foreigners. BCCI and government must NOT allow more than 2 foreign players in each team&that will gove greater opportunity to indians as well. What a shame that BCCI and rulers are behaving as slaves of westerners even now or are they getting huge kick-backs in the deals involving forein players, etc, Millions of cricket fans must not allow our country to be looted again by foreigners&foreign business houses any more.Hope millions of indians are listening&that they will take necessary action to give justice to india

Boycott and British arrogance
by Vanamali sarma on Jun 23, 2011 08:41 PM

I am not commenting about DRS, but about Boycott's British arrogance. Once he wrote nasty things about Indians in his book and has the temerity to present that book to Indira Gandhi. Indira being what she was, gave him an earful of her opinion about him. That shut him up for that time being.

Omkar Patki
DRS
by Omkar Patki on Jun 23, 2011 08:39 PM

Using the same logic of Geoff Boycott, just because all other countries want it, DRS does not become right. Just like the way Europeans killed Indian Hockey by introducing astro turf, the White men want to do the same to cricket. The BCCI is right and if it has the power, it should flaunt it. O
therwise, why have it in the first place?
