Andy Roberts was a great bowler. No doubt. But he should not discourage WI youngsters. I think West Indies selectors are not choosing the right combination !

West Indies countries have migrated to proper sports like football from colonial sport like Cricket. Look at the amazing performance of a tiny country like Jamaica in football! Cricket is best suited to decadent societies of South Asia who have still not come out from hundreds of years of subjugation!

football also has its origins in England. As Anushka points out it is the NBA that is ruining Calypso cricket
Like Darren Bravo, K.Roach, A.Russell, D.Bishoo etc. The problem is in selection policy. They should go with their best side in each and evry match until they get winning momentum. Only after that they can think about to rest any key player.
very good points by roberts. First there is no long term dedication from these players to improve themselves as cricketers rather only an effort to make money only. Which they can not vilified for but, they must understand that money comes when you perfect yourself first. Secondly there is no real leader or role model in west indian cricket like there are Sachin, ganguly , laxman etc. Third the biggest problem is with most modern players is that they train in gym, not in playground itself. Your body gains far more resilience by working outside than in a closed environment. No wonder newer players get more injuries these days.
