Just because in recent times he has taken some wickets he thinks himself some big shot and starts giving comments on every topic related to cricket. He is not happy with anything in cricket and specially with India. He should be taught a lesson by indian batsmen.
If the likes of swann were to be taken seriously, why should a cricket match have two umpires sweating it out on the field. We can do away with them and install just a one umpire in the comfort of an AC room watching TV and supervising the match.

It is a fair game without the on field umpires then too Siva. The BCCI is a spineless, corrupt, excuse giving idiot!
While DRS is the call of hour, yet its not going to make any difference to Swann's chances against Indians. He will be spanked left, right and centre by Sehwag and company!
The thing is, DRS has still not been standardised. There are at least 2 technologies used Hawkeye and Hot Spot. We have only a total of 4 Hot Spot cameras available, and there are security issues for taking Hot Spot out of Australia. I think the serious objection to the DRS is the LBW. I personally feel that Saeed Ajmal had a legitimate grievance in the decision against Tendulkar. Equally the Ian Bell decision was a shocker. So the whole thing gets cancelled out. The point is 2 bad decisions were made in spite of the availability of technology. Thus using DRS for LBW does not make sense. The only thing that an umpire needs to refer is the bat pad conundrum. Maybe if this is brought in, DRS can be implemented. India has lived without the DRS and are prepared to take the chance. The Indians are prepared to accept the field umpire's decision. What is wrong with that?

Agree with your assessment on the technology, Balaji. The Tendulkar decision could have gone either way and looking at the number of dropped catches on him, Pak was not prepared to win on that day! - But Tendulkar and the Indian team were.
As for Swann's crowing, he has not done anything special against indians with his bowling. They will shut him up when he has to bowl against them! It is one thing to bowl spin to SA and Australia and another to subcontinental batsmen! He seems to forget that!

Don't get too confident about Indian batsmen handling Swann easily. He has been the best spinner in recent times, and his strike rate against good sides is pretty good. We have seen in the past how the so called good players of spin, get out to spin bowlers. Remember the India-England test at Mumbai in 2005 where an unknown bowler called Shaun Udal took 4 wickets (including that of Tendulkar) to win the match for England. India were bowled out for 100 then. More recently, Ajantha Mendis took 26 wickets in 3 tests against India and top Indian batsmen like Dravid and Laxman had no clue on how to play. The only batsman who played him well was Sehwag. So on his day with a little help from pitches, Swann could be a handful.

Talisman, check the records when Swann carrier got reviewed 2-3 years back. It was in India against India when he picked handful of wickets including Sachin & Dravid few times in the series. After that he never looked back & became the best spinner in the world now. Don't under estimate him! He is dead right - some of the top Indian batsman don't want UDRS b'cas they know they have less chances of survival with their technique than with umpires. In close decisions, DRS can't not differentiate between Tendulkar vs. tail-ender, whereas umpires tend to give benefit-of-doubt to bigger batsman vs. tail-ender, which is what they want to take advantage of! Between Shewag & Laxman has stated they don’t mind DRS at all which shows their mindset & confidence.
