Sachin achievement
Notable achievements that come to my mind till now
1983 world cup, 1985 Bensen & hedgeg cup, Titan cup,Hero cup, 96 SF,Sharjah cup,
Natwest trophy, 2003 Finals,T20 World cup,CB Series,No1 Test status.
Except for No1 status, most countries have similar achievements.

But then we have 'SACHIN'.The best bastman ever(Only Bradman can contest).
Most of his records will stay alive forever(If you are cricket fanatic,
then u will know that most of them are impossible to break).A poll in
australia twice this decade said Sachin is the current best player.Ponting
was no-where near in those polls. Current and ex-crickets, commenattors,
coaches, umpires and everyone alround the world praise him as the best.
That makes me an Indian proud. He is like Dhanychand of Cricket.
He is like a Schumacher ,a Pele, a federer, a Tiger woods.
50 years from now, Indian cricket might become like our Hockey.
Usa, Canada,Ireland,Afghanisthan might be top 4 teams.Your Grand children
might not follow cricket, but they sure will be surprised and happy to hear
that the best player, holder or most runs, centuries is an INDIAN.
He is a phenomenon that happend once in a life time.
I cherish a century from Sachin more than an Indian victory.
This is the reason why.
u should know that out of his 50 centuries, 20 centuries helped in winnig the games and 20 centuries helped in draw and 10 CENTURIES HELPED INDIA TO LOSE THE GAME BY BIG MARGIN.
If you jst want to go

Sachin facts in ODI

When ever Sachin scores a ton India losses ?
FACT:India has won 34 matches out of 48 when Sachin has scored a ton which is a whopping 71%

Myth: 2)oh is it ? but this player should have scored all his 32 match winning centuries against weaker teams like bangla/kenya/zim?
FACT: His tons have helped india win 9 times against australia.list is as follows -
australia-9, new zealand -5, srilanks-5, kenya-4, zimbabwe-4, west indies-3, south africa-3, pakistan-1 & namibia-1

Myth 3) : All most all of his match winning centuries were scored batting 2nd this choker cant score a run while chasing under pressure ?

Fact: Sachin has scored 17 tons while chasing a huge score & India has won 15 times (unbelievable 88 %).some of his most popular innings while chasing , the one against aus in WB series downunder & the one in sharjah, the innings against pakistan in wc

MYTH 4)May be this was long time back ,BUt in recent times whenever he has scored a ton we have lost ?
FACT:India has won last 3 matches out of 5 when he has scored a century & 1 got tied. (80%)

Myth5) All his Man of the match awards are useless? we have lost those matches like we did against aus recently !

FACT: Sachin has won 62 MOM's out of which in india has won 56 times (90%), & 8 times he got MOM award in the finals (Hold ur breath 100 % success rate, all were won) . All other so called indian greats combined have played

So called new generation player shown thier capibility in 2008/2010 T-20 wcup ( with no senior including sachin playing).
India out shamlesely in 1st round by loosing all matches. Dhobiji was cpatin & flopped in every match with bat.
It aslo proved that 2007 T-20 win was fluke as format was new & tried for 1st time.
All new friends of vaidya ji flopped in SA series.
These new players got thrashed Evenin Zimbawe.
This time also they could struggle to win B grade WI by margin of 3-2

Though i agree these young guys can do better if non deserving dhobiji is removed from side as it will create place for a desrving player & also politics will end.

He is right Indian cricket is plague with selection blunders...
by Nikhil Shah on Jun 14, 2011 11:05 PM

He was the best leg spinner in the country. The problem is India selects 3 seamers when it plays outside India.

After winning the first 3 ODIs India ran out of luck and the selection policies have surfaced again. The selection blunder of Chawla and Sreesanth was corrected by re-introducing Mishra and to some -extent Ishant.

Manoj Tiwari was a Test batsmen and having him open in 1-dayers will not only kill his confidence in Tests but expose him in a negative manner. Badrinath is another example of a Test batsmen being tried out in 1-dayers just to expose him to international pressure.

Anand Mukund with a List-A average of 57 and and a strike rate of 82 was ahead of Shikar Dhawan, but Riana and Co choose Shikar first, dropped him and then a unsuitable opener like Manoj Tiwari.

The selectors have not sorted out the ability of players through domestic performances. Another blunder for the WI series was the absence of Rahane who averaged 68 and is the number player suitable for Tests.

Parmar is the only genuine offspinner if his action was corrected..

I am not impressed with Raina saying everybody should get a chance. Does he mean even the BCCI janitors! One has to see whether a player is suitable for a particular type of format.

Why is he complaining?
by RC on Jun 14, 2011 05:37 PM  | Hide replies

There are many cricketers who inspite of being talented did not get a single chance to represent India. Robin Singh who was picked for the Windies tour in 1989 was in the wilderness till 1996 when he came back and made the most of it. Mishra should be greatful he got a chance. Yes it is true he might have been dropped after good performances but then we are not a small cricketing nation. There are countless players to choose from.

that doesn't mean Mishra should not feel bad. Nobody appreciates the fact that he was dropped and Chawla was included in World Cup team. And we saw how Chawla peformed!

comon chawla is dhoni friend.
Also in one of drawn test match, dhoni critized bowler but mishra defended bowler in press conference. Dhoni didn't like it any one opposing him.
He couldn't tolerate senior like dravid/laxman in oDI then who is mishra.
Dhoni has got his own set of friends(moastly northy) like RP singh, ishant shrama, nehra, bhajji, yuvi, raina, praveen kumar, chawla, goginder sharma etc. These people will keep getting chance in ODI/T20 irrespective of performance same as useless dhoni.
Presently due to good team, weak opposition & max no. of matches in subcontinet, india is doing well & hence dhoni regional politics/manipulation is getting ignored.

A.Mishra.....
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 14, 2011 03:47 PM

He got first opportunity during Bangladesh tour under Ganguly's captaincy. He did well in ODI series but Ganguly said Bangladesh tour is not a critera to judge a player and dropped him in next series. I don't know why selectors picked M.Kartik like spinners rather than A.Mishra in future.

Finally Dhoni gave him chance agaisnt Australia and he took 5 wickets.

by pallu banjo on Jun 14, 2011 03:37 PM  | Hide replies

The BCCI wants to favour some people but they cannot ignore you also. Hence they will give you a chance and pray that you fail. But you seemed to have put them in a quandry by doing exceptionally well. Hence you will face the wrath and side liined for years. But you came back with vengeance and proved once again that you are good as ever. NOw they cannot ignore you. Keep up the spirit.

leg spinner should be included
by ASIF KHAN on Jun 14, 2011 03:21 PM  | Hide replies

i think a leg spinner should be there in the team as they are more attacking thn regular off spinnersand add variety to the bowling. although they are more prone to get smashed for boundries and sixes, they can get u wickets also

It is unfortunate that when Mshhra was youg Mr.Kumble was in the team.More unfortunate part was that when Kumble retired the selection comitte did not give him a chance.Perhaps he is too orthodox bowler with out muc variations.Atleast he deserves a place in Tests

@ Mad Max: It is very tough to change the mentality of 1.2 billion people. Each person has a different opinion in our country. as much as i agree with u that bcci is corrupt, it is upto us to quit watching gambling (IPL-4 was a big flop!).
Encouragement for other sports r less since people cant mint money like they have been doing in cricket. By the time our guys improve in football, it will take another century. look at hockey (supposed to be our national sport), it is in the doldrums because of politics. i believe this is the state of affairs in all indian sport authorities :(
