Where does this leave Dravid?
by indiafriend on Jun 15, 2011 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

From Zaheer's outburst it is evident that Dravid had no control over team and team selection. Moreover, he was a bad motivator! He only sucked up to Chappell and More to remain the captain and was a puppet in their hands.
Shame on Dravid!

Dravid is a marathi and all marathis are genetically corrupt. That is why slumdog millionaire movie was based on their city...

Let us not get regional here, but the fact remains that Dravid is a shameless backstabber...who put his own captaincy aspirations above everything and destroyed Team India and his own self-respect!

Chappell had guts and was frank!!!
by a g on Jun 15, 2011 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

Only Chappell had the guts to call a spade 'a spade'!!! He only exposed the high handedness and dominance of the so-called seniors esp. Sourav's and Sachin's in the team under whom the Juniors were suppressed. Unfortunately, it was misconstrued by the egoistic players and the board also supported them. In India, glasnost never works. People who are straight and mean business or are real task masters never click. We need only chamchas and believe only in chamchagiri all the time!!! Gary is a hit here bcos he was diplomatic whereas Chappell was not. However, some of our senior Indian players deserve to be trained under Chappell like people...only then they can be tamed.

Then how is it that the team plumbed the depths with him as coach, only to recover once he left to become world chamions four years later ? Ultimtely it is the results that matter, and there is no doubt that Greg Chappell, batsman extraordinaire and one of the finest cricketing minds of all time, is an extremely poor motivator and leader of men. This was peoved once earlier when he captained the Australians, and is being proved now when he is a selector (and the most influential one) in Australia. He is taking apart Australian cricket, brick by brick, as he did to Indian cricket four years ago.

That's the point here. The team esp. the seniors wanted him out and passed the buck to him for their failure. Also, Indian players were never good at playing fast seaming pitches like in SA. Even now if India had played in the south african pitches they would have been bundled for paltry scores. They were lucky that they had world cup this time worldcup in the subcontinent.

The Coach Way!
by Aces99 on Jun 15, 2011 04:49 PM

Different Coaches have different personalities & attitudes towards the game. Different styles of approaching, techniques & trainings.

For some players, its hard to adapt to those coaches who are very much dictator type especially those players who are playing for more than decades now or so called SENIORS.

In case of any junior player, a coach is a coach. Let it be of any standard or type. They adapt to the coach way. But not in the case of SENIORS players, who think they are the best & capable enough to be coach by themselves.

And if you mix up cricket with politics, it becomes totally different scenarios, no comments !

RAMACHANDRA KULKARNI
Greg Chappel
by RAMACHANDRA KULKARNI on Jun 15, 2011 02:51 PM

Chappel was a mole planted by the CA to destroy Indian Cricket. The Money Hungry BCCI failed to read this and lent its deaf ears to the grievencies of the players.

Greag made his worst comments against Sachin as soon as he took over as India coach. At that time only BCCI should have kicked him out. But people like Pawar, Niranjan Saaaaaa and other Corrupt BCCI Officials kept quiet as they were busy in counting their share.

The real loss was Sourav Ganguly, India not lost a good cricketer but a good captain as well, because of BCCI apathy.

Chappel's only aim was to destroy Indian Cricket and its famed Batting Line Up. He knew one day this team would dethrone the Aussie from Number One position.

He was on a Mission and the Indian failed to take notice of it.

I done why all player who are in good form now blames chappel for their poor performance at his time.It was players who goes on feild and perform. IF he was wrong why at that they speak. What is meant for complaining after 4 years when he has left...Zaheer and all others please perform dont complain about Chapppel..HE was great and remain great. Their is always some black era for player and coaches and that was for chappel..you can have example of Buchanan..he had made Australiya to win two world Cup but his period with KKR was not good...

chappell's statement
by Ashish Sharma on Jun 15, 2011 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

Chappell's only agenda was to spoil Indian cricket. To recall his two statement:
'Sachin's days are over,' and 'my aim is to bring India to second spot after australia.' No coach will ever say that he wants his team to be on the second spot, and not on the first. And, we all know what happened to his first statement about Sachin. Chappel was very arrogant and insulting to Indians, and that a fact.
