Jaysuriya is one of greatest player of Srilanka and remember ever for his contribution in 1996 world cup and for starting new trend in One day particularly in fielding restriction
I have great admiration for Jayasuria and his exploits especially in ODIs in the past. But it is clearly an avoidable retrograde step by the Srilankan Cricket Board to select him at this age.
If they did not have a good opening batsman to replace the tainted Tharanga and injured Dilshan, they should have selected any upcoming promising youngster to open the innings with Mahela Jayawardene. Mahela opening the innings will lend stability to the team while allowing room for many aspiring middle order batsmen like Kapugedera, Chamara DeSilva, Samaraweera etc. and all rounders like Angelo Mathews (if fit), Thissera Perera etc.
Jayasuriya had the ability to single handily change the game with this powerful batting. He is from an era when Cricket matches were played to a good standard and it had exciting players. He will be missed by cricket fans.
It's so pity that srilanka has to call up sanath jaysuriya again I think they don't have any other to guide them.ok lets see what he do wonders to the team in a final test match.

Jaysuria selected only for T20 & ODI series against England....He already retd.from test cricket long time back since 2007..
In the past, all Indians hated him not because of his lack of form but because of his extraordinary performance against India. That is the best compliment a player can get.
If he and Arvind D'Silva were not in the Sri Lanka team, they would not have won the 1996 world cup. They will be among those players who did best in their format of the game for their country.
