INDIA PLEASE GET YOUR SELECTION RIGHT !
by Satish K on Jul 27, 2011 09:58 PM  | Hide replies

Well, England can make hay as long as Sehwag remains unavailable. But India could at least have made it much tougher for England in the First Test had they been a little more adventurous in the selection of the eleven, and included another similarly aggressive player who has troubled England with both bat and ball.

There were suggestions by several fans in these forums to have Dravid open with Gambhir in the first Test and play Yuvraj instead of Mukund. Though Mukund shaped quite well, the English bowlers were always likely to be one up on him, given his relative inexperience.

Yuvraj would also have been more than handy as a bowler for long spells after India were reduced to three bowlers right from the first day. (besides his batting. fielding and overall energy he brings to the side).

Compared to the previous tour (2007) India this time has not got their selection right. At least two wrong selections come to mind - Dinesh Karthik should have been the second wk and not Saha, given the excellent starts he gave as opener in difficult conditions that time. Another dicey selection is Munaf’s, who has no pace and also not fit enough for long spells in Tests. He is just good for ODIs. In his place should have been RP Singh who again like Karthik had a great tour troubling most England batsmen who are uncomfortable against left arm bowlers.

Selection was good, only thing is that youngster did'nt fire like Sachin or Dravid. Sehwag is different genre of player. Don't confuse between result vis a vis style. Main concern remains for India is their Bowling attack. & ITS GOING TO STAY.

Dont forget we were missing our 2 best players..
by Surya Prakash on Jul 27, 2011 06:20 PM  | Hide replies

In Batting, Sehwag is our best player who can make mincemeat of any bowling attack. He makes a huge difference to the team's chances with his ability to tear the opposition and also a handy bowler.

In Bowling Zaheer has been the cornerstone of the Indian attack and provided us breakthroughs consistently in the last few years. He is especially a very lethal bowler in seamer friendly conditions where the ball is swinging. He can bamboozle the best batsman with his line, length and intelligent bowling.

We were missing both these players at LORDS and for some strange reasons, the GOD of cricket went into a shell and brought his downfall. Unfortunately the duo of Dravid & VVS who have bailed us out in the past, perished this time playing bad shots. And any how did not expect Dhoni & Co to stand tall and see us through. Dhoni is thoroughly confused with batting trying to ape Sachin.

What is there in Number 1 status?
by A Singh on Jul 27, 2011 05:17 PM

Nothing is permanent. Yesterday it was Australia, today it is India, and tomorrow it may be England.
Indians know very well that the world (and hence the no. 1 status) is an illusion (Maayaa), and they never follow the illusion. We only follow Gandhiji, and are very fond of collecting his photographs printed on 1000 Rupees' currency notes.
Let England become number 1. We shall keep collecting Gandhiji's photographs, and watch from outside how long they can stay there.

Lack of lbw DRS may hurt England: Flower
by D S on Jul 27, 2011 04:56 PM  | Hide replies

Are you JOKING, DRS without LBW has already damaged India. Look at the cleverness.

Peitersen used referral to full benefit to get a double century. Peitersen turned LBW into a nick and asked for referral.

then, dravid catch was turned down using replay (they could have changed angle of camera if it were angrez).

Peitersen USED PADS TO NUDGE A BALL HITTING THE WICKETS and AT THE SAME TIME USED THE BAT to show it was a nick.
then, cleverly called for DRS because bowden turned LBW into a snick (a catch situation). thus peitersen TRICKED THE LAZY AND UNFIT INDIANS who are made unfit by their useless coach and fitness experts.
angrez are tactical as well as cheats. used the dutch players cleverly and yet prepared themselves using international players. you can see stuart broad was imitating indian players action (bowling and batting ) to show how angrez planned to beat it.

on top of all this, how did the angrez make the pitch give un-even bounce when indians played. did they sprinkle some metal mud with same color as the lords soil.

Unless full bowling attack takes opposition out twice we can not
by sanjay on Jul 27, 2011 04:55 PM

Unless full bowling attack takes opposition out twice we can not win. Four pacers one spinner would be batter. All should be fit.

These Eng and others countries are talking too much, and even our many Indian fellow as well.
Its same Indian team havent loss series from last 3 years almost.
20-20 world cup
50-50 world cup
No-1 in test
We are worldchampion in all department.
We beat srilanka in sri lanka
NZ in NZ
WI in WI
Eng in Eng itself last time
Drwa in Aus
Drw in SA
Not fair to say we won only at home
Lets hope and surely expect from tis team to bounce back even if we are not winning the sries
the coming matches will not remain d same and Eng will b get the test of No-1 team soon.
Imagine India just 1 down going into 3rd test and Sehwag and Zaheer back and others player will be well settle in climate and condition in Eng, they can just pray nothing else.
One more important point.
everyone say India must beat Eng 7 Aus at home they wont be actual number-1, so d same applicable to Eng as well, they must beat India in India and others Asian countries at home soul to b called fair no-1. What say frnds...

Whats value add Harbhajan is bringing to the team
by nisanth dev on Jul 27, 2011 04:19 PM

I dont think Harbhajan has ever been a match winning bowler for India. Any spinner who has given so much of oppurtunities like him would have been a better choice than Harbhajan. Its high time that team india and the selectors need to rethink about his inclusion

Dont write the obituary yet..
by Surya Prakash on Jul 27, 2011 04:09 PM  | Hide replies

To all fair skinned experts who are rejoicing the England victory over India, I would sound a warning. DONT write off India yet. It is a 4 Test match series. No doubt, England has drawn the first blood, but it is not yet over. Dear Donald, Boycott, do you think the result would have been different for England if they would have toured India ?? They would also have been comprehensively beaten by the Indian spinners & batting giants. So, the same happenned to us. India will rise from the ashes and will giva fitting reply to their detractors. Come On India, You can do it...

If you cannot accept defeat in sports, better not play nor watch. At the end of day, we need to only see if we have given our best.

Shewag
by rahul on Jul 27, 2011 04:06 PM

Once shewag comes back may be for the third test , then everything will change,
the other team is so scared of him,
the captains dont even declare in 2nd innings,
also put sreeshant as we have no other option.

by the way we playedwith only 2 bowlers
as Zak was injuried
& no help for spin in bhajji

so how can u win with 2 bowlers
