I'm pretty much sure team India will bounce back & show why are they no.1 in test side.just one loss cannot judge the ability of our players, despite being brutally hit in his elbow,Gambhir showed lot of courage to come for bat.Indian think tank had definately some surprises for English team which we will see in coming test matches.go India go chak de fatte......

exactly that.. FOr how many years indians and srilankans were winning in their own home countries. Does that make them world beaaters at that time? So, just because england practiced well, while india lagged behind and also were short of practice and preparation, that did not mean we got bashed. Imaging Zaheer playing as a bowler in both the innings. IT would have atleast reduced the target by 100 runs.so, Indians were beaten but not bashed.

In the first innings, they survived follow-on by a whisker. 196 runs defeat is a shame for No.1 ranked team indeed.

OUR THREE FAILURES
by SRIDHAR RAGHUNATHARAO on Jul 27, 2011 11:56 AM

1. We did not take any lessons from our Somerset performance.
2. The media gave exaggerated hypes of our strength without highlighting the realistic analysis.
3. It's my feeling that our batting order did not offer spirited defence
We lost a golden chance to etch our win on the eve of 2000th milestone test at Lords.

True Facts

1. No Bharat Ratna for Tendulkar as he is no lord as he proved at Lords. Neither was he responsible for world cup victory. He is the greatest batsman in modern cricket but not invincible as Gavaskar makes him out to be, happy that Shastri is speaking about Laxman and Dravid more these days. I feel Sachin and Dravid had one advantage over ponting that they play more matches on flat pitches compared to Ricky Ponting. For god's sake pls do not hype sehwag, he is a flat pitch bully on seaming wickets he is not good, even aussies got a good measure of him in the test matches.
2. Kapil a strike bowler, struggled in the end, left a hugh vaccum in pace dept. Kumble a strike bowler, struggled in the end, left a hugh vaccum in spin dept. This just shows that we will always lack genuine talent on bowling front on a consistent basis. So forget about continuing to be world no 1 like aussies.
3. Off late Dhoni managed to pull indian cricket team to No 1 status only via tactful means by excessively relying on laxman, sachin and dravid. To some extent sehwag and Gambhir. So once these 3 call it a day india will struggle in bowling and batting depts in test matches.
4. One day and T20 we have good young talent so many problems there compared with test matches.

Sehwag had an exception for being flat-track bully. During 2003-04 Australian tour, he scored swashbuckling 195 on fast MCG track. However, India lost that test match badly.

Ranking
by Makya on Jul 27, 2011 11:44 AM

Those supporting India blindly for No.1 status in Test cricket should realize that:-

- Most Test Series victories by India in last 2-3 years have come on flat Indian or similar type wickets (WI etc.).

- India have failed to register away Test Series victory in Australia, South Africa & Srilanka during their last tour. India have merely managed to square test series away in these countries.

- MS Dhoni & Co. are playing too much limited overs cricket (IPL, Champions League, T20 & ODI)which have adversely affected their Test match playing abilities.

- Gone are the days when India used to beat opponents with full brownwash Test series on home wickets. Opponents visiting India are losing one-off test & managing to draw rest test matches.

- Indian bowlers are not physically fit & penetrative enough to wrap the opposition, therefore struggle to take 20 wickets in a single test match.

- Recently concluded WI tour proved that India do not play aggressive cricket required for certain situation in Test matches. 1-0 series win against weakest team like WI do not suit No.1 ranked Test team. Also that one-off test India won was purely by Indian bowlers who came good in comparison with ordinary WI bowlers. Indian batting in that Jamaica test had failed miserably except for couple of batsmen who rescued the situation. That win was like relatively better team won against minnow team.

India never appeared to be No.1 Test side

Why so much obsession with numbers?
by Ashok Kumar on Jul 27, 2011 10:47 AM  | Hide replies

Just one loss, and all sorts of numbers have started cropping up. Such a fanatics will only help fill in space and not do any help. Indians are very well know to be slow starters and it is not a surprise that they lost the 1st test. But remember, thay came much closer to saving the test match, despite the poor shot selection by established batting line up and with the help of only 3 bowlers where bajji was of no use. With the learnings, I strongly feel that India will turn the tables and put up a strong show in the remaining tests. Wait till the series is over and then talk about the numbers.

videshi coaches in test or IPL will make sitting ducks of india
by D S on Jul 27, 2011 10:46 AM  | Hide replies

fitness and speed of indian is of a very wrong kind. Not the sort that is needed for long haul. Zaheer is example of negligence of body conditioning and mis-advise.

we need indian coaches who are trained to be better than world coaches. the indian coaches(with desis and videshi non-cricket assistants) will have loyalty to india as well.

india can also hire videshi assitant coach for fitness from sports like baseball from nations like mexico, chile, japan, etc.

videshi looks are artificial, trott has now grown hair on his bald head like angrez captain.

the angrez beast is built by tactics by using videshi for every sports at lower or higher level(of their kind)
be it cricket or soccer or rugby or ...

india has sufficient cricket and soccer talent that we dont develop very well from young age.
amriki do the same with basketball.
deccan challengers had fielding coach from a baseball team.
zaheer replacement is R P singh as RP has lot of success with england before. Rohit should be bought back.
all those slamming IPL should be realistic, IPL cannot be compared with test.
ipl is only 4 overs or 5 per bowler. and there is lot of rest for body to recover after t20.
it is foolish to blame IPL for indian bowlers demise.
these are players with neglected fitness heavily dependent on wrong videshi advisors.
operation and treatment of zaheer in south-africa was a waste, maybe Singapore woould be better. same with sehwag.

automated DRS is made with that poison in mind.
How was umpire Assad begging the angrez players when they crossed the pitch to celebrate dismissal of harbhajan. he could not stop them.
so umpires are also beggars of angrez via ICC. while publicity and media is used to slam india being dominating by billion pound videsh spy agencies in every aspect.
