Excuses

Does Indian media highlight the fact that Sachin and Raina were plumb lbw to Broady and not given by Bowden?
England needed to take 23 Indian wickets rather than 20 to win .
but only when it is against you that Indian media barks

superb display by england and it was a treat to watch Jimmy Anderson bowl the way he did.
There is not any appreciation of way England played in Indian media , instead it is all about how badly India played.
If India wins it is how good they are , never recognise the opposition efforts.
That stupid idiot Saurav on Star Cricket could only say how India are poor starters aand even went to the extent that England cannot pick 20 wickets in a Test just when India were 60 for no loss in 1st inn.
It is a torture if one listens to him and Wilkins ( an Indian chamcha)

WHy Blame Sachin only
by S on Jul 26, 2011 05:54 PM  | Hide replies

Why Blame Sachin only? What about others? All are equally responsible for the debacle.

The result was somewhat almost predictable. Past history in such situation has been always like this ( with very very few exceptions ). If India is facing a high target and time available is 1 day few minutes / hours, in most situations Indian team had miserably failed. The moment top order collapses - 4 wickets, the rest can't fold the fort. The last four people have never been batsmen and had never scored over 30 runs in total after 6th wicket is fallen. In order to draw the match, the indian team always tries to play a "Nervous" game to stay in the pitch which invariably make them out. This has been happening time and again. Unfortunately the Indian team does not have the Grit to Win/Save the match.
That is the reality and we have to accept it.

It is SAD!

Sachin is being singled out because everyone else in the top order has fought many times to win or save games for India along with the tail or otherwise. Even Gambhir who just started his career a few years ago played for the whole day to save the game against NZ. Dhoni did it last time at Lords' albeit with help from the rain. Dravid and VVS, you know have done it a zillion times. Sehwag has won games with his bludgeoning blade. Mr No Hoper Sachin is the only one who gets all the accolodes when the team wins but his fans don't want him to get the brickbats when India loses.

U r correct, dude. We just need to give Sach the credit in Indian wins. We sang his bhajans in the WC final even though his contribution was petty. If India loses, how can anyone question Sachin...come on

Very fair statement... on the back of this excellent logic, you'd be the first to be asking Dhoni to quit captaincy... Right? :)

Meek and Timid Sachin..
by Surya Prakash on Jul 26, 2011 05:35 PM  | Hide replies

More than losing the match what hurt me was the meek and timid way Sachin approached the game when batting yesterday. There were no big devils in the pitch and the English bowlers were neither menacing nor unplayable. Sachin had devils in his mind which ensured he failed. It is deeply embarassing and insulting that Sachin went without runs for 40 balls got almost out 3 times before falling plumb LBW to Anderson. Though it would be inappropriate to rate anyone on ONE INNINGS, Sachin proved that he is ordinary and lacks the grit and determination required when pushed to the wall or severely tested. For India, we lost the match the moment Dravid & Laxman were gone, though Raina saved some respect for us. Dhoni has been a colossal failure and Sachin let us down when it matters most. Would have been proud, if we had lost with GUNS BLAZING....Now Sachin's 100th century is of no consequence anymore since it did not come when it mattered most. Now for me, Sachin is not even no.10 batsman in the World, leave alone No.1. There are far better batsman who fight for their country's cause..

I truely agree with u.. Player should play for country not for his personel record.. Ricky Ponting is the greatest batsman since he plays for country not for his personal record.... Sachin should learn from Ponting..

@Surya. Sachin was never #1 let alone all time #1. People who have seen the true greats bat, would never put Sachin in the same bracket (unless motivated by money). Even his contemporaries are better than him as they deliver on the big stage (Ponting, Dravid, Laxman, Kallis, Lara, Jayawardene, Inzamam to name a few). Sachin is the worst batsman when team needs him. He scores only when all the others score. Laxman lead India to 3-4 test wins playing with the tail, Dravid played almost a lone hand twice in WI and so many instances of Ponting (Ashes and WC final), Jayawardene WC final, etc. However, you don't have Sachin playing in one such knock is a key situation is 22 years. Perhaps once or twice as his idiotic fans will remind us but that's about all.

Yes Ashwani. Border is a true hero. How can we forget the no. of times he has made century in each innings of a test match playing the most fearsome WI quicks in WI. He was one of the strongest cricketers in the mind.

I think Steve Waugh was the best in the business when it came to Test cricket..He was a match winner in the true sense..But unfortunately no one really mentions his name in any all time world XI

I agree with all. Sachin never played for the country when it needed most. He never played an innings that either saved or won a test match. Still many consider he's great! Dravid & Laxman always played for the country. Dravid was made scapegoat all the time. He was sent to open the innings, bat from no.1 to no.7 places, asked to keep wickets! Still he did justice. Sachin's place in batting 11 never changed! Great..... Dravid is like Gundappa Vishwanath where as Sachin is like Sunil Gavaskar. First two are unsung heroes & next two are hyped ones. Kudos!!

I totally agree with u regarding Sachin.I also doubt MS Dhoni ability as a test match batsman, especially overseas. he usually does well in the flat batting friendly Indian pitch but i feel his batting technique is not good enough for averseas matches ,especially in the English conditions he is really found wanting.
