I read the whole article and couldn't spot where he said he want to play for himself.
I think half of Sreesanth's character is imagined by the journalists. Sreesanth is a good bowler that's why he is in the team otherwise he would have been left out of it a long time ago. With the kind of criticism he gets from inside and outside, means its difficult for him to progress, if he isn't good.
So, Good luck to him and hope he does well for India.
Also, thinking more about it, a bowler being more selfish is good for the team than a batsman going for the records. A bowler can never be very selfish. Let us say he thinks I'll take all the wickets in 2 overs and no one else will be able to get more wickets than him. Moreover batsmen doesn't have too much to bat for as well. This is the best scenario for a cricket team.

Is sreesanth the only cricketer wihtout merit to have donned Indian colours? Whatever I have seen of him, I believe he is far better than 50% other jokers who got into the team just because of regionalism. Agreed Sreesanth is arrogant and erratic but can you cite anybody who positions the seam better than him? As for parochial mallus, whats wrong in taking pride in ones region until he isnt disparaging others?
He is the only player who got Rs.1 Crore for handing over towels and drinks to other cricketers of Indian team. This was asked in Kaun Banega Crorepati
