I think Pujara's statement of things beyond his control does not sound good. He should be in control of somethings, there are freak injuries but if he is repeatedly getting injured then it means he is not doing things properly. He has himself to blame for not being in contention for the selection due to injury. I cant remember Sachin being out of the team due to injuries like this and that too so early in his career. The way you train and work is the root cause for issues like injury. So these two are defenitely under his control. You can and must feel sorry about it. Not about your fate.
The current tours of England, followed by Australia are a bit difficult for several reasons.
India is protecting its number one Test status and risking newcomers at #6 spot is a bit dicy. Raina and Yuvraj are already vying for that spot.
But the selectors have done everything backwards. Trying out Chawla in the WC who was young and unproven and the recent debacle in the WI where with the exception was Mukund Anand there was nothing being settled with the newbies.
Pujara's has several competitors and on the basis of merit here is the middle future prospect for the Indian team,
The number one young Test prospect was A Rahane, followed by Pujara and Tiwari. Rohit also had and average of 60 . So the next Fab 4 was
A. Rahane FF ave 67 in 69 innings R. Sharma FF ave 60 in 64 innings C. Pujara FF ave 55 in 89 innings M. Tiwari FF ave 55 in 72 innings
