dhoni god father is laloo. eben if u score like 16,0, 2,5 dropp cathes- do it for 6 consecutive test series oversaes- no one can dare to touch u
I agree that in test cricket there is a third option of a draw. Would also like to mention that no one has forgotten the famous collapse of 127 chasing a paltry score. But that was when you were not the No.1 Test team. We are now the No.1 Test team and you should create a winning opportunity even when you face defeat. Here it was not only that you had a winning opportunity. Chances of losing was pretty low.
When you have top class T20 players you need to go for the kill. Agreed Dravid and Laxman will play by the text book. But the so called killer instinct generation of Kohli, Raina, Vijay, Dhoni et al could have given the impetus, with Dravid and finally Laxman playing sheet anchor. Had it been the Aussies, they would have definitely won. Atleast these guys could have given it a try. That is where Dhoni and his next gen team has let down. He wanted to protect his record and the No.1 rankings. This does not augur well for the England series. I'm sure we will lose our No.1 ranking there
i agree with vinay, aussies were the best and i believe we will never see again a team with aggressive attitute and talent like that(gilly haydos punter warne mcgrath etc) they used to play for their fans and baggy green, whereas dhoni, who is no doubt the best indian captain by far and his team is nowhere compared to the attitude of oz greats. sadly test cricket died after the retirement of oz greats.

allan vaz, bhajji and sreesanth have the aggressive attitude that you mentioned above. but not many fans here like that 'aussie' type attitude...
Sorry to say that India do not deserve to be a No. 1 Test team. Infact they dont deserve to be champions.
When you are playing against a team like West Indies, who are nowhere near to India in tests and you got to score 180 runs in 45 overs..Why you have to play for a Draw, inspite of having a decent batting line up?
Not playing the mandatory 15 overs is just foolish. Atleast they cud have tried to play in a ODI style. They cud have changed the batting order for No. 3 position. If you cannot take risks, how can you be called a No.1.
Lastly, even Bangladesh cud have won the match yesterday.

Instead of putting the blame on Batsmen I think the focus should be more on the Bowlers who faulted for the first time in this series when they allowed The Tail to wag for a long time. Even though Harbhajan took 4 wckts but it also took him a long time. With a semi fit Munaf Patel & an Under Performing Harbhajan Singh , team India let go of a golden oppurtunity to make it 2-0 in the series.

Nice Guy
I do understand the game and that's why I commented. You got to get the gilli danda cricket aka 20-20 out of your system.
You also have to realize that the team didn't have any natural stroke makers aka sehwag and tendy who can manufacture stroke rather than just play 1 type of stroke

sameer based on ur idiotic logic all test will end in draw as all opposition team will bowl on leg side 6 balls on last day of every match be sensible before comment

Just a FYI, check the Test in 1997 where we scored 500 plus runs against SL. They chocked the batsmen with negative bowling. The test is Test #1374 , we couldn't accelerate at all due to the negative tactics applied by SL.
Same scenario was done by Ashley Giles in the test series against India in India. So i know what I am talking about

In scenario's where only limited number of overs are to be bowled ( 47 in this case) and the test result can go only 1 way, opposition teams resort to negative tactics , by bowling wide and down the leg side.
Ashish, it seems like you do not watch Test Cricket or have watched very little of it.

Very True.. Also the level of competition in cricket is so poor.. Earlier even Zimbabwe were strong.. Now the teams which are from rankedd 5th and below are like how India is in Football. No wonder India is No. 1 in test as other teams are not showing the commitment as before due to lack of competition
