the struggles through which Kapil Dev had to go through to break Sir Richard Hadlee's world record tally of 434 test wickets. Indian team had to carry that old war horse even when he had been reduced to just a military-medium pacer. The less said the better about Harbhajan's wicket taking abilities after Kumble's retirement. Harbhajan has not been a factor in India's recent success which has been built upon a group of highly experienced and supremely talented batsmen, and a very canny meduim pacer in Zaheer Khan. Why is Harbhajan still in the team is a mystery. 95 tests for 400 wickets @ an average of over 32....that too for a spinner who plays mostly on sub-continent wickets. No need to look any where else to know the 'class' of this loud mouthed shnook. In the current series, spinners like Amit Mishra and even Devendra Bishoo has lookede more threatening than this stupid sardar. 'Harbhajan Bags 400. Congragulate him'.. ...two hoots.!!

Ashwin does look better but does he has the ability to stay in the team for 13 years & moreover we are yet to see how good he is at handling pressure.

He hasnt been given a chance for tests.Am sure he and Rahul Sharma have the arsenal to replace Bhajji. Need to be given chance and confidence like ganguly gave to harbhajan. Bhajji has been very lucky..any other team he would haven out by now given the spinners we have now. Sadly for him, he will always pursue the success of 2001 and itz not gonna happen. Hasnt made any changes in his bowling style or added variety like Kumble, Warne and Murali did.On top of it, his arrogance and loud mouthed ness will prevent him from reaching heights reached by Kumble
A few years back I had seen on TV a wonderful exhibition of off spin bowling by Saqlain Mushtaq. Australia was playing a Test match against Pakistan at the MCG and they were some 300 odd for 3 wkts and suddenly collapsed to 345 all out. The aussie batsmen were completely bamboozled by Saqlain and totally clueless about how to play him. We dont see such bowling nowadays as bowlers only try to contain the batsmen

Good question. I will have to check the records to find out the reasons for that. But in that one spell he was totally unplayable

Saqlain must have got call from Bhai...u will be finished if you don't pick wickets now...that did the trick.

I checked the records. It was in 1999 at Hobart (not MCG). Saqlain had just invented the 'doosra' and unleashed it on the unsuspecting Australian batsmen. Australia collapsed from 191 for 1 to 246 all out as Saqlain picked up 6 for 46
