Opener
by À°vaidya nathan on Jul 21, 2011 06:43 PM

Please note opener is only partime. As soon as shewag comes hmukund has to vacate. It is better no good opener come at this stage.Otherwise what will happen these selctors gives one or two tours for the cricketer and then suddenly drop them from the team without giving chance like Badrinath. At prensen Dhoni is still better than Parthiv in all matters hence better we should refrain from critcising Dhoni,

England Tour
by sriraam subramaniam on Jul 07, 2011 07:30 PM

Murali Vijay, Yuvraj and Raina are given enough chances in Test to prove their worth though sometimes they fail, still are taken.

I really Pity Subramaniam Badrinath for not being given enough chances. He could atleast could have tried in the West Indies Tour instead of Murali Vijay who could not coupe up with the lifting deliveries of West Indian Pitches. He is anyday a better player than Murali. Selectors please wake up and give chances to Skilful batsmen in Tour like West Indies.

Badri been neglected again!!!
by vicky on Jul 04, 2011 12:00 PM

Its surprising to see Badri been dropped from England series. He is a much better player than Raina and Yuvi in tests. He was not given a chance to play a test in WI. Then how the hell could they drop him without testing him. He was always been made scapegoat to accomodate overhyped players in tests like Yuvi/Raina. Presence of Dravid/Laxman/Sachin/Ganguly in tests kept him aside, but this was the right opportunity to have given him a chance. He certainaly deserved a better deal. Give him chance, and i am sure he would perform much better than the Yuvis, Rainas and Kohlis. I am suprised how Srikanth could have missed Badri in tests. Does Srikanth want to prove that he is an impartial selector and selects the team purely based on cricketing skills? Then what answer does he have for Badri's ommission?

Ashwin ignored!!
by raghavadesikan on Jul 04, 2011 10:14 AM

I dont understand why Ashwin is not given a chance to play in a test..Is that because Mishra is better bowler than Ashwin? I think Ashwin's inclusion will strengthen spin attack.

Parthiv Patel is better W.K.than Dhoni and Saha.Even better batsman than these two.Dhoni keeps him out fearing his place may be in danger for future.Politics!!!Patel has no godfather in this team.Injustice done to him,Gujarat and India by the selectors.
And why Mukund in team.Lot of better players than him.Dhoni is enjoying the feast prepared by his predecessors.

sreekant don't hype dhoni for nothing.
any one can play one good inning in final if his position is secured in team even after 30-40 repeated failures.
See dhoni avg in test outside india. he has failed in each 7 every series. How can he get so many chance.
Parthiv patel or even dinesh kartik much better batsman & wicketkeeper than dhoni.
U say partiv can score 30-40 runs. but dhoni can't score even those runs. For one good inning this liability dhoni is not supposed to play for 10 yrs

can you name another opener better than mukund for tests? Remember it has to be an opener, not a middle order batsman.

Regarding parthiv, he is good for nothing. makes some 30-40 runs, and keeps okay. More hype than substance. But yes he is better than W.Saha. But please don't compare him to dhoni! do you think parthiv would have played in WC final and won us the cup? Not even in his dreams!

1.Dhoni
2.Saha

4.Mukund (There are many better domestic performers like Rahane..etc.)
5.Harbhajan (there are better spinners)
6.Why select Sehwag if you are not sure about his fitness. One can't book in advance.

Excellent comment of Amit on Mr dhoni
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jul 03, 2011 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

I suspect I am not going to make many friends with my observation here. But that is not why I am making this comment any way. For long, a complete non-performer (but a genuine YES MAN to the selectors) has been branded a good-to-a-great captain and has cemented his place in the team on this credential. The above article refers to his 'wretched form in this tour' but when exactly did he have any sensible run with his form in test matches outside the subcontinental drab wickets? He is simply a low politician who has the uncanny knack of tapping the right buttons wherever the power might be. Technically he is possibly the worst batsman that I have seen in the last three decades (resembling a chirpy toad at his 'belligerent best') and so far as captaincy is concerned he was lucky enough to have got a ready made team from his predecessors. I do not know of a single player of quality that has emerged in his times but he is definitely culpable of damaging many prospects (Yuvraj Singh & Harbhajan Singh are the primes names that come to mind). The public do not bother because test cricket gets so little media coverage these days that most of the non-performances are not highlighted at all. So far as 20-20 cricket is concerned (his performance in standard one-day internationals also follow the test patterns, more or less), most of them are played in Indian soils where he turns out the neo-Viv. Why do we have to bear this nuisance for ever?

I agree dear, God handed him many gold/platinum sword like of SACHIN, SEHWAG, RAHUL & LAKSHMAN, who have been making India proud in test over a decade or so, also he got Zaheer, Harbhajan who are making the job easy post KUMBLE retirement.

This is all luck dear, even if you were the captain and get such a wonderful team, you will keep winning there is nothing like rocket science in winning,PUNTER was doing the same but his fellow colleagues have left him and dusting follows.

Anyway people like India winning, as far as it's working, Mr.Cool will remain cool, once all the players who are making the statement over the years for Indian cricke will leave, Mr. Cool will become hot because sach...rahul...shewag...laksh....will is rare property.

the ommission of Rohit again is unexplainable
I am not sure whether dhoni prefers yuvi over Raina and yuvi may have to wait to replace an injured player. what a waste of talent.Badri has not matured to international level so also the other TN players. Rohit could have taken the opening slot ahead of Mukund. These youngsters could not perform against a lowly rated WI and a forty plus is not a great score to retain one's slot in the team

yuvraj is not fit for test at all neither raina. raina was playing against weak west indian attack. let him play against english attack. he will dance there so as yuvi. both are good for 50-50 and 20-20 only. test cricket is a different ball game. rohit sharma and pujara are the best prospect for future.
