Excellent comment of Amit on Mr dhoni
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jul 03, 2011 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

I suspect I am not going to make many friends with my observation here. But that is not why I am making this comment any way. For long, a complete non-performer (but a genuine YES MAN to the selectors) has been branded a good-to-a-great captain and has cemented his place in the team on this credential. The above article refers to his 'wretched form in this tour' but when exactly did he have any sensible run with his form in test matches outside the subcontinental drab wickets? He is simply a low politician who has the uncanny knack of tapping the right buttons wherever the power might be. Technically he is possibly the worst batsman that I have seen in the last three decades (resembling a chirpy toad at his 'belligerent best') and so far as captaincy is concerned he was lucky enough to have got a ready made team from his predecessors. I do not know of a single player of quality that has emerged in his times but he is definitely culpable of damaging many prospects (Yuvraj Singh & Harbhajan Singh are the primes names that come to mind). The public do not bother because test cricket gets so little media coverage these days that most of the non-performances are not highlighted at all. So far as 20-20 cricket is concerned (his performance in standard one-day internationals also follow the test patterns, more or less), most of them are played in Indian soils where he turns out the neo-Viv. Why do we have to bear this nuisance for ever?

I agree dear, God handed him many gold/platinum sword like of SACHIN, SEHWAG, RAHUL & LAKSHMAN, who have been making India proud in test over a decade or so, also he got Zaheer, Harbhajan who are making the job easy post KUMBLE retirement.

This is all luck dear, even if you were the captain and get such a wonderful team, you will keep winning there is nothing like rocket science in winning,PUNTER was doing the same but his fellow colleagues have left him and dusting follows.

Anyway people like India winning, as far as it's working, Mr.Cool will remain cool, once all the players who are making the statement over the years for Indian cricke will leave, Mr. Cool will become hot because sach...rahul...shewag...laksh....will is rare property.

the ommission of Rohit again is unexplainable
I am not sure whether dhoni prefers yuvi over Raina and yuvi may have to wait to replace an injured player. what a waste of talent.Badri has not matured to international level so also the other TN players. Rohit could have taken the opening slot ahead of Mukund. These youngsters could not perform against a lowly rated WI and a forty plus is not a great score to retain one's slot in the team

yuvraj is not fit for test at all neither raina. raina was playing against weak west indian attack. let him play against english attack. he will dance there so as yuvi. both are good for 50-50 and 20-20 only. test cricket is a different ball game. rohit sharma and pujara are the best prospect for future.

Who will drop dhoni
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jul 03, 2011 10:35 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SA 2011, 35.8
Present WI series- 5.75
Also dhoni after playing 26 T-20 intl has not scored a single fifty, no match winning inning, no MOM & pathetic strike rate of 110 (one of the lowest for any batsman in T-20 at his batting position)

Dhoni is best
That’s why doing rest.
hehehe

No one has guts to drop most non performing player & laibiilty for any overaseas tour- dhoni.
But poor players like parthiv Patel, Rohit sharma, Kohli etc are dropped after every one series failure.
Now days there are 3 criteria to be selected in team-
1) You should have extraordinary talent like sachin, dravid, laxman, sehwag, zaheer etc
2)You should be politicain like dhoni
3)You should be friend of politician dhoni like raina, yuvi, bhajji, pravee, chawla, RP singh, Nehra etc to get enough chance

What will happen in England.
he has failed in all 7 overseas series in test he played.
No one in history of indian cricket has got so many favours. Its all add agency, media & politcal pressure that dhoni is still selected for overseas test series
Now partiv patel is dropped & ordinary saha is selected as 2nd wicketkeeper. Its all to retain position of politicain dhoni. Parthiv was best batsman in WI ODI after rohit sharma & not gievn chance in test again due to politics of dhoni.
All wicketkkepr batsman like parthiv/kartik caereer is screwed due to dhoni politics. its shame for indian cricket

looking at the technique of pujara, i think he has not there as yet. pujara could be a failure in seaming conditions thats for sure. its better to have yuvraj or raina .

Kohli is a wonderful player in the ODI format. The problem with him is that he has changed his game in test matches. One needs to be selective in stroke making which does not mean one needs to be totally defensive in approach. He would be successful if he stocks to his game, which is a positive approach to the game.

England Tour....
by rakesh sadhu on Jul 03, 2011 01:05 AM  | Hide replies

Yuvi should open in the first test in place of injured Sehwag. That way, we can play Raina too. Otherwise, Mukund can't face upto the English seamers. Needs a couple of seasons in the county circuit to hone up his skills.

m not agree with u.....
as yuvaraj never had a exprience of opening......
as per mukund he prooved in west indies, that he can bat in opening......
n between yuvi n raina i like to opt for raina........
because had some match winning partnership in west indies series with lower order batmen

IT SEEMS YOU PEOPLE REALLY DO NOT HAVE CRICKET SENSE. BOTH OF THIS PLAYERS YUVI AND RAINA SHOULD NOT BE IN TEST SQUAD AT ALL. IF I AM JOKING THEN YOU WILL SEE IN ENGLAND. BOTH HAVE NO TECH TO PLAY MOVING BALL AT ALL. ROHIT SHARMA AND PUJARA WILL BE PERMANENT PLAYERS OF TEST TEAM NO ONE CAN STOP THEM JUST WRITE DOWN MY WORD.IT IS NOT WEAK WEST INDIAN ATTACK WHEN ANDERSON AND TREMLETT WILL SWING THE BALL THIS TWO DHAKKANS WILL DANCE.

no messing up with openers in test. mukund has proved to be a good opener in West Indies. He has to be given the opportunity the first place. Toss up btwn Yuvraj and Raina, I would prefer Yuvraj simply bec he is far more experienced playing in English conditions.
