Harper the Umpire
by Arun Sharma on Jul 02, 2011 03:26 PM

ICC should answer that if his accuracy was so great then why have they taken him out of Elite Panel . If Umpire is having a bad day his decisions do not go against only one team.

Indians are cry babies

Indians do not like umpires. They hated Bucknor for ruling that God of Indian cricket Tendulkar out on several occasions. Unfortunately we Indians could not accuse Bucknow of racism. We hated Hair for the rulings against Muralitharan. Now we hate Harper. Some of the worst umpires are from Indian subcontinent - Asoka de Silva, Dharamsena and Asad Rauf. What we Indians cannot acknowledge is the fact that the best umpire Simon Taufel is also an Australian.

We appreciate any umpire who is not biased.Simon Taufel is respected and we would not mind him even is stands for india-austrlia test match. But Darryl Harper is either incopetent or biased. Its as simple as that.

So that proves Indians don't hate an umpire because of his country but because of his bad umpiring. Best umpire at the moment is Aleem Dar from Pakistan.

94% decision right
by madhu madhu on Jul 02, 2011 03:05 PM

Which involves tea break, lunch break, over completion, big leg side wide, leg byes. 6% of wrong decision involved lbw, No ball to be a god ball, catches which didn't come of bat... See harper has got 94% decision right

Above law of cricket
by jyothi kulkarni on Jul 02, 2011 02:09 PM

Mr Harper if you say you should never apply laws of cricket to Indian players becoz you feel Indians think are above law ,yes they are but ,above & against the law that is unfair .Also you must be blind as a bat , other wise any one could see Indian players returning to the pavilion once given out.( after your expert review).
If you think you cannot apply the laws becoz what happened on field was not cricket you have a point as long as you can agree that what Australians do on field is no cricket either.

Harper preaching behaviour???? One of the worst umpires and racially oriented which most of the Aussies and Brits and SAs are , he goes one tier up. Just out of frustration and for his Beef burger eating remarks , which is against the religios sentiments of a community, ICC should ban him from all matches , if they punish Harbhajan for a monkey gate incidence aimed at onely one person. But then ICC will not, because it doesn;t have the balls for that.

On umpiring
by devendra shukla on Jul 02, 2011 01:11 PM  | Hide replies

The comments of Harper on behaviour of Indian players is unwarranted. It seems to be out of frustation. Dhoni is known for his cool behaviour and when he did some harsh comments on Harper's umpiring, there must be something to be looked into. Cricket is said to be gentlemen's game and umpires are caretakes of this spirit and when they make such comments including that of behaviour of Indian players with WI players, it is like deliberate attempt on the part of Harper to harm the cricket and fueling the relationship between players of two countries.

Indain cricketers of late are known for their rowdy behaviour both on field and off it. Examples are of Harbhajan - he slapped his own teammate Sreesanth; Praveen Kumar charging at a spectator; ditto for Kohli. The good boys of Indian cricket - Dravid, Laxman & Co are on their way out. The new crop is arrogant and aggressive in behavioural patterns. Let us look within, before lashing out at officials.

Mr Ariel agreed wat u jave just mentioned about harbajan, praveen etc. But u very silently forgot or deliberately avoided incidents like Ricky ponting elbowing our minister on the stage, or the countless abuses showered by ponting & team in the name of sledging.U even forgot to mention all the incidents like michael clarke picking the ball from the ground and claiming a catch and all other unsportmanship behaviour publicly exhibited in front of the world in that infamous Sydney test where 11 unsporting australians & a corrupt steve bucknor tilted the game into aussie win..Well I would rather support our team in their battle against biassed harper & bucknor..as for the new crop being arrogant, they r arrogant because they are facing arrogance from their oppositions from australia, s.africa etc...If they can do, so can we..Please dont forget we are the number 1 test team, we are the world champions. But it is a shame that many of the people like you cant digest this and hence shower criticism each time u r here for a comment.

Remarks from Harper is just to satisfy his ego.If he were to be a gentleman, he would have accepted his mistake and kept quite.Instead he has made comment on Dhoni and also tried to garner support from WI team by making a statement that even WI team was upset on the behaviour of Indian Players.Harper doesnot have any right to comment on others when he has made so many mistakes in the first test.Good! ICC didnot renew the contract and removed him from the elite panel.

To Err is Human.!
(Mistake is good as long as it is not repeating again)
To Blame others is inhuman..!!

Harper fits into the latter....
